Pink Floyd WEM Speakers Pompeii

Live at Pompeii: Recreated in Cheshire by Chris Hewitt using WEM Equipment

The equipment used by Pink Floyd during their Live at Pompeii film recording has been recreated in a field in Northern England as part of the promotional work for a forthcoming book. The book details the large PA speaker system setups at concerts using WEM speakers and the book, of course, features Pink Floyd. They used WEM. There are 500 copies of the book being released so, if you want one, get involved. The band played One of These Days which you can watch below. You can also enjoy an interview too looking at the equipment. Pink Floyd of course were well known for their use of lots of equipment over the years. This could range from the ‘azimuth coordinator’ that Rick used to throw sound around every corner of a room, the ‘Binson Ecorec’ which was an early mechanical reverb machine, not to mention stage production technology. Roger Waters...

Pink Floyd 1986 A Momentary Lapse of Reason Recording

Listen to Rare ‘Yet Another Movie’ Demo Recording

David Gilmour has shared the demo for Yet Another Movie for you to listen to ahead of the Momentary Lapse of Reason remix release later this month. I thought, this week, that we would put up the original demo, written by Pat Leonard and myself, for what was to become ‘Yet Another Movie’ on the ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ album. Pat Leonard and I met up at Astoria in September 1986 a couple of days after I had played on a Bryan Ferry track that he was producing. We had a glass or two of wine and jammed for hours. For some reason that I can no longer remember I had chosen the fretless bass as my instrument of the day. It turned into a beautiful song. David Gilmour Remix of AMLOR Later This Month… It is interesting to hear how songs develop from their initial demos to the...

Pink Floyd Books 2021

New Pink Floyd Books for 2021

There are plenty of books out there covering the history of Pink Floyd, and what a long and epic journey that has been. Pink Floyd – The Rob Verhorst Archives Rob Verhorst’s career spans well over four decades. David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason have been a common thread in his working years. The gentlemen of Pink Floyd, as a group but later also solo, often appear before the lens of the Rotterdam (pop) photographer. A first encounter in Sportpaleis Ahoy’ in Rotterdam in 1977 makes Verhorst decide to combine his two passions – photography and music – and to make it his profession. His picture of a deflated pig in Ahoy’ also inadvertently reveals a unique way of working. Verhorst not...

Polly Samson and David Gilmour

David Gilmour and Polly Samson Rolling Stone Interview (New album, Tour, Roger Argument)

David Gilmour, and his long time collaborator and lyricist Polly Samson, have done an interview with Rolling Stone magazine which you can read online. The interview focuses on Polly’s work on her novel A Theatre for Dreamers, but also covers lots of other ground including the dispute surrounding Animals 2018 remix which “David’s former lyricist” Roger Waters had things to say about. David Gilmour vs Roger Waters Lets get this element of the story out the way first, then we can focus on happier thoughts. Given all the suffering going on in the world, its a bit daft to be bickering like this. Put “credit” and “ego” to one side and focus on the future! It says in the Rolling Stone interview that it was done in “late May” and then published on 7th June. As we know, Roger went berserk on 1st June regarding the liner notes issue for...
