The Pink Floyd PA system, used on the 1973 tour of Dark Side of the Moon, is being recreated in 2023! CH Vintage Audio will display the equipment at 5 of the Australian Pink Floyd concerts in the UK. It will appear in the foyers at the concerts. Shows are on at Guildford, Birmingham, Brighton and Bournemouth. Sound systems that could fill a large hall, let along a stadium, were developed alongside Pink Floyd growing as a band. Acoustic amplification used to be the order of the day. I had the pleasure of watching the Australian Pink Floyd at The Liverpool Echo Arena on 2nd March 2012. As cover bands go, you can’t really get much better than this. From a visual perspective, the show is impressive with them having a large circular screen like Pink Floyd use onto which there are various projections and videos. They also use lasers which are always fun and, on this particular tour, they are using lights along the front of the stage as Pink Floyd did on their Division Bell tour. The Australian Pink Floyd are probably the best Pink Floyd tribute or covers band out there. They will be going on tour again in 2011 so, in addition to Roger Waters tour of The Wall in 2010 2011 something else to look forward to! The Australian Pink Floyd Tour 2011 will be announced either towards the end of this year 2010 or perhaps early on in 2011. I myself have seen them twice: once at the new Liverpool Echo arena during the Summer Pops festival of 2009 for which they are a regular performer and also in Manchester. The Aussie Floyd once played as a Pink Floyd Covers band at David Gilmour’s birthday party so, if he likes them, I imagine most fans will too!
