Pink Floyd Plaque at Regent Street Polytechnic

Pink Floyd Unveil Their Plaque At London University

Pink Floyd rockers Roger Waters and Nick Mason unveiled a Heritage Plaque at Regent Street Polytechnic in London last Thursday to honour the band. Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright met at the university, now called University of Westminster, when they were studying architecture between 1962 and 1965. They established the band Sigma 6 and played at the university common room and various student parties. Waters, 71, said: “We are hugely gratified to be here and to have the plaque. It’s an honour.” Mason, 71, added: “Living as a student was a fantastic way to live. Although I’d like to see more government grants introduced. I spent my grant on curry, I think, mainly. But sensible people need the money in order to further their education and study.” Rogers added: “I spent mine on bass guitars. I used to be freezing in my dorms.” You can watch a video of...

Nick Mason Drums on Kirsty Bertarelli’s New Album Indigo Shores

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has lent his drumming skills to family friend Kirsty Bertarelli on her new single Indigo Shores. This is the title track from her new album called Indigo Shores, and you can listen to MP3 samples of that. It is also on Spotify. Naughty Nick and his “moonlighting”! In an interview, Kirsty talked about Nick Mason’s involvement in her new album, “The production of the album – started so brilliantly by Don Mescal in Nashville, Tennessee and beautifully curated throughout by Tom – was given an extraordinary energy when Nick Mason walked into our little studio. A family friend, Nick not only offered to play on some of the tracks – much to the awe and delight of all of us at Britannia Row, gazing speechlessly at our mentor beating away through the studio glass – but also gave me the confidence to immerse myself in the production...

Photos of Pink Floyd’s New Album The Endless River on Vinyl

Acoustic Sounds has shared some photos of Pink Floyd’s new studio album The Endless River they are working on for release in October 2014. Acoustic Sounds were chosen to handle the release of the double vinyl of the album and have received the master copies as you can see below from The Mastering Lab. There are of course four sides to a double vinyl recording and all four of these were sent to Acoustic Sounds at Quality Record Pressings, straight from Doug Sax and crew at The Mastering Lab northwest of Los Angeles. The follow-up to 1994’s ‘The Division Bell,’ ‘The Endless River’ marks the 15th studio album by the famed British band. Scheduled to release in October, ‘The Endless River’ finds David Gilmour and Nick Mason completing work on sessions with the late keyboardist and founding member Rick Wright. This is the third album by the Gilmour-helmed Pink Floyd after Roger...

Nick Mason “In Conversation” at Borders – Tickets on Sale Now

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason will be participating at an “In Conversation” event for Borders book store. The event takes place on Thursday 12th June 2014 in Melrose on the Scottish Borders where Nick will be interviewed by comedian Rory Bremner. Tickets are priced at £10 (£8 with concessions) and more information about the event can be found on the Borders Book Festival website. Nick Mason wrote the book Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd which is an excellent document of the history of Pink Floyd as seen through the eyes of Nick Mason. Perhaps the views expressed in the book are not necessarily the views shared by Roger Waters and David Gilmour who famously fell out many moons ago. Nick Mason certainly is the archivist of the band and I bet he has all sorts of flyers, programmes, personal photographs which document the lives of Pink Floyd members...
