Rick Wright’s Wet Dream Remix Out July 2023

Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright would have celebrated his 80th birthday this coming 28th July 2023. To mark the occasion, one of his solo albums, Wet Dream, has been remixed by Steven Wilson and has been given new cover art. It will be released as CD and also on streaming platforms initially. It will be released on deep blue transparent marbled vinyl, Blu-ray and Dolby Atmos on 29th September 2023. There will be pictures and videos never before seen from Rick’s life included. Also, the new mix additionally includes 2 extra passages of music that were edited out of the original mix. Producer Steven Wilson said, “For anyone hearing the album for the first time it will become apparent just how much of Richard’s DNA runs through Pink Floyd. Syd Barrett Estate launches Official Syd Barrett YouTube channel

Syd Barrett Music Limited and the Syd Barrett estate are launching a dedicated Syd Barrett YouTube channel. The channel is a natural extension of Syd Barrett’s existing online presence and will consist of artistic interpretations of his solo music, with accompanying music and lyrics. Together with the Swedish animator, Alex Teglbjaerg, known as The Artist on the Border, there will be new animated music videos released on an ongoing basis. It will initially focus on the solo songs which originally appeared on ”An Introduction to Syd Barrett” (2010). “There isn’t all that much filmed Syd Barrett out there,” says Peter Barrett on behalf of the Barrett family, ”you’ve already seen most of the material and the few bits that pop up are quickly placed in the digital public domain. Syd Barrett Documentary Preview in London April 2023

Further to the previous article about Mercury Studios having finished making the Have You Got It Yet Documentary about Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd, I can tell you that there will be a preview of the documentary in London on 27th April 2023. Further details to follow. The documentary is the story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd, directed by award-winning filmmaker Roddy Bogawa and late renowned graphic designer Storm Thorgerson. The film explores Syd Barrett’s life, a founding member of Pink Floyd, who was pushed out of the group due to an alleged LSD-induced breakdown and replaced by childhood friend David Gilmour. The documentary highlights Barrett’s contributions to the band, his two solo LPs, and his return to painting in his last years. David Gilmour Recording New Song for Teenage Cancer Trust

David Gilmour has been recording a new song for UK charity Teenage Cancer Trust at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London. Guy Fletcher, Dire Straits keyboard player, recorded them at the London studio which features some rather excellent vintage equipment in addition the modern stuff. Guy said, ” I recorded David yesterday for the TCT project. It was great to see him and Polly. (And their dogs!)”. David Gilmour’s wife and lyricist also posted a couple of photos from the session on her Instagram page. David has been playing his black black strat (not 0001) on the recording which, hopefully, we will know more about soon.
