Animals 5.1 & Stereo Remixes to be Released Soon, Plus Roger’s Broadside on David Gilmour

The much delayed 5.1 remix of Pink Floyd’s Animals album is due to be released soon much to our relief. The project has been sat on a shelf according to Roger Waters in his latest video update on the project. Apparently the liner notes written by Mark Blake, and edited by Roger, did not get the approval from David Gilmour that Roger was looking for. Hence the project, due in 2018, is now ready for release without the liner notes included as a compromise. For those interested to see what the liner notes said, Roger has shared them, along with some information about the memoirs he is working on. David Gilmour on Forthcoming Piano & Friends record by Jools Holland

A tiny fragment of information slipped out of Jools Holland’s Instagram the other day. David Gilmour has recorded on his forthcoming album Piano and Friends. Jools Holland is of course the host of Later With… Jools Holland, a long running music show on the BBC in the UK. He is also a composer, pianist and bandleader of his rhythm and blues orchestra. David Gilmour has recorded for many people over the years and done live performances too. This isn’t the first time David has recorded with Jools. David Gilmour and Polly Samson Live Video Event 2nd April

Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and writer Polly Samson will appear in a live video stream tomorrow to publicise the new book A Theatre of Dreamers. It will also feature new material from David Gilmour performed live. Polly Samson, who is married to David Gilmour, wrote lyrics for Pink Floyd and David Gilmour solo work and features on albums Division Bell, A Momentary Lapse of Reason and On an Island. The Endless River, Pink Floyd’s last studio album, had Polly’s lyrics on Louder than Words. Book Launch Postponed Originally, the book launch was to be accompanied by three live events at Manchester, Birmingham and London, UK. These events have been postponed to later in the year. Each of these special events will feature Polly Samson in conversation with journalist Rosie Boycott, readings, film and live music, including a new song Yes, I Have Ghosts written by David Gilmour and Polly Samson....

Polly Samson Becomes Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature

Writer Polly Samson has become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Polly has written lyrics for a post-Roger Water Pink Floyd including The Division Bell, and also her husband, David Gilmour’s solo albums. For nearly 200 years, the RSL has celebrated and nurtured all that is best in British literature, past and present. Polly’s current fellows include Margaret Atwood, Martin Amis and Rose Tremain. Fellows are given a choice of pens with which to sign the register from TS Eliot, Lord Byron and George Eliot. Polly signed using a pen that once belonged to one of Britain’s greatest ever poets, Lord Byron.
