Re-Creating Pink Floyd's Mixing Desk in 2024

Pink Floyd’s Quad Sound Mixer Recreated

CH Vintage Audio’s Chris Hewitt, and Allen and Heath co founder Andy Bereza, have been busy recreating a sound mixing desk that Pink Floyd used from Pompeii in 1971 through the Dark Side of the Moon tour. The mixing desk is the piece of equipment that all the microphones and instruments plug into to blend and change the sounds with effects and EQ for example. That then plugs into the amplifiers and out through the WEM PA System. The PA systems of Pink Floyd are covered in great detail in the three books that Chris has released. Chris told NPF, “It’s a working  re creation  built by me and guided by Andy Bereza who designed and built the original which ( no longer exists ) was used between 1971 and 1974 so spanned Pompeii through Dark Side of The Moon and drove both of The Floyd PA systems  I own ie the WEM...

Nick Mason Becomes Honorary Citizen of Pompeii on the Day He Performs There

Pink Floyd drummer, Nick Mason, has been awarded the title of honorary citizen of Pompeii in Italy. He received the title today, joined by his wife Annette, at the small ceremony at the City Hall – known locally as the Commune di Pompeii. Nick Mason is in town with his excellent Saucerful of Secrets band performing at the Teatro Grande in the ancient ruins, this evening. Pompeii is famous for lots of reasons including the great volcano eruption that preserved a Roman city and was only relatively recently rediscovered. Its also famous for Pink Floyd’s 1972 film Live at Pompeii where they recorded a rather excellent and experimental film of them performing, sharing clips behind the scenes and of recording Dark Side of the Moon. There is a Pink Floyd museum at the amphitheater. Watch a video of the event : https://www.facebook.com/NickMasonDrums/videos/811550813958130/ What is Pompeii Famous For? Pompeii, an ancient...

Roger Waters Us+Them on Sky Arts Freeview

A week before its official release on glorious bluray, Roger Waters epic Us+Them concert film is to be broadcast on Sky Arts in the UK. It is not the full version of course, it is an edited down director’s cut (I’m not funny enough to think of a joke linking that to the final cut album you try) but it is broadcast at 9PM GMT in the UK for free. As a UK person I actually had no idea that Sky Arts had come to Freeview – it is usually a subscription channel as far as I know. They often feature lots of Pink Floyd content and have broadcast plenty over the years. In addition to the main prize at 9PM, they are also broadcasting lots of other goodies from 6:30pm so have you dinner, get a brew and tuck in! How do I get Sky Arts for Free? Sky...
