David Gilmour Recording New Song for Teenage Cancer Trust

David Gilmour has been recording a new song for UK charity Teenage Cancer Trust at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London. Guy Fletcher, Dire Straits keyboard player, recorded them at the London studio which features some rather excellent vintage equipment in addition the modern stuff. Guy said, ” I recorded David yesterday for the TCT project. It was great to see him and Polly. (And their dogs!)”. David Gilmour’s wife and lyricist also posted a couple of photos from the session on her Instagram page. David has been playing his black black strat (not 0001) on the recording which, hopefully, we will know more about soon. Unreleased Pink Floyd High Hopes from 1994

As part of the promotion of the forthcoming Pink Floyd Later Years massive box set, the official YouTube channel of Pink Floyd has shared an early recording of the song High Hopes from The Division Bell album. Also, just catching up with the news a bit here, but David Gilmour joined Richard Thompson at the Royal Albert Hall as a birthday treat, as a special guest at the 70th Birthday Celebration of singer/songwriter/guitarist and Fairport Convention co-founder Richard Thompson. Appearing towards the close of a concert full of stellar guests, David performed Richard’s The Dimming Of The Day, including an incendiary solo. The song had of course previously featured on the David Gilmour In Concert DVD from the Royal Festival Hall. David Gilmour fans in mainland Europe will be delighted that more concerts have been announced in a range of countries. There are 28 concerts coming for the rest of the year with 11 across the Americas in USA and Canada, 13 across mainland Europe and a final 4 concerts in the UK. The new dates are in Poland, Austria, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium before finishing in UK at the previously announced four extra nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London. David Gilmour’s 2015 Tour of Europe sold out pretty much instantly after going on sale at 10am 6th March to coincide with David’s 69th birthday. The tour sold out that fast that two extra nights were revealed at the Royal Albert Hall in October taking the total number of David Gilmour concerts in 2015 to ten across six venues and five countries.
