Pink Floyd will release the remastered Mono LP of their second album Saucerful of Secrets on April 29th 2022. This follows the recent release of Piper at the Gates of Dawn mono LP, which was released earlier this month. The original mono mix of Pink Floyd’s A Saucerful Of Secrets, remastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante & Bernie Grundman from the 1968 analogue tapes, is released on heavyweight 180g vinyl (following its limited Record Store Day 2019 outing). It’s the Floyd’s only album to feature all five band members after Syd Barrett was replaced by David Gilmour. Pre-Order from Amazon now I wonder what other LPs are in the works? In an age of all these digital downloads, it is nice to just switch off the mobile devices and just sit and listen to a nice vinyl. What a great event.
Unseen Pink Floyd Syd Barrett Photos 20+ professional photos of Pink Floyd’s performance at Gyllene Cirkeln in Sweden 1967, by photographer Kenneth Ekberg, have been discovered and will be shared for the first time on 26th February 2022. One of the guests is Janne Schaffer, of ABBA fame, who will bring the amplifier that he used that very might in 1967 as a support act to Pink Floyd and lent to Syd Barrett for the evening. A live recording of this particular concert was officially released in Pink Floyd The Early Years mammoth box set, later releases as separates, and is widely available on the bootleg/ROIO scene. I am going to be honest here, I am reading through the UK Albums and Singles charts and I have never heard of most of it. Is that a good thing for a fan of the old music? I had a listen to a few of the albums in the top 10, all sounds the same with a lot of autotune. I guess something similar could be said of the charts since they were invented! Why does it all have to be so terribly loud…. Anyway, there was one band I did at least recognise and that is Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets band! Proper music! Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason set up his Saucerful of Secrets band back in 2018 with guitarist Lee Harris. He soon assembled a full band including Pink Floyd session bassist Guy Pratt, Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet as the singer/guitarist and keyboardist Dom Beken. They played a gig at London’s Roundhouse theatre down in Camden and had camera’s galore to film it. It is now finally released on multiple formats for fans to revisit earlier Pink Floyd material which doesn’t often get a look in from Gilmour and Waters. Some great songs there in the set list. Roger Waters has postponed his 2020 North American Tour to next year in 2021 due to the Coronavirus outbreak. On Facebook Roger said, “THE BAD NEWS: I’ve had to postpone my THIS IS NOT A DRILL tour until next year.
