The film was directed by award-winning filmmaker Roddy Bogawa and late famed graphic designer Storm Thorgerson. Syd Barrett, one of the founding members of Pink Floyd gave the group their moniker by combining the names of two obscure blues players – Pink Anderson and Floyd Council – and wrote their first two charting singles but was quietly pushed out of the group who were convinced he had suffered an LSD induced psychotic breakdown, replaced by his childhood friend David Gilmour. Subsequently releasing two solo LPs that garnered minor attention though considered by many contemporary musicians as uniquely haunting and poetic, Barrett dropped out of music returning home to Cambridge for the last thirty years of his life...

Pink Floyd’s Saucerful of Secrets Mono LP Release for April 2022

Pink Floyd will release the remastered Mono LP of their second album Saucerful of Secrets on April 29th 2022. This follows the recent release of Piper at the Gates of Dawn mono LP, which was released earlier this month. The original mono mix of Pink Floyd’s A Saucerful Of Secrets, remastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante & Bernie Grundman from the 1968 analogue tapes, is released on heavyweight 180g vinyl (following its limited Record Store Day 2019 outing). It’s the Floyd’s only album to feature all five band members after Syd Barrett was replaced by David Gilmour. Pre-Order from Amazon now I wonder what other LPs are in the works? In an age of all these digital downloads, it is nice to just switch off the mobile devices and just sit and listen to a nice vinyl. What a great event.

Duggie Fields Syd Barrett House Interview

Artist Duggie Fields in a rare filmed interview in the flat he shared with his friend Syd Barrett

I often wonder what our favourite musicians are like when they are just hanging out at home when not on the stage doing their thing! I guess many of the “legendary stories” are invented by the media and fans alike to elevate these people and make them into stars! According to Duggie Fields, in this unseen extended interview below, Syd was a bit more normal than some of his other friends and wasn’t so much a victim of his drug usage (he didn’t do that much apparently) as he was a victim of having his creative flow disrupted by the sudden onset of fame, and people trying to limit his creative output. Duggie passed away in March 2021 and the interview below was done by producer John Edginton back in 2001 in the house where Syd lived with Duggie. The same house where Syd painted the floorboards in the room...
