Mark Knopfler releases a special edition of ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’, produced with Guy Fletcher, featuring an impressive lineup of guitar legends. This includes David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood, Slash, Eric Clapton, and many more. The track notably starts with Jeff Beck’s final recording. Contributions also come from Roger Daltrey and Ringo Starr, among others, adding rich layers to this remarkable collaboration. Artwork for this release is by Sir Peter Blake, known for his work with The Beatles and other famous bands. This project supports the Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America, with at least 50% of the net proceeds from the sales being donated to these charities. David Gilmour on new Mark Knopfler Charity Single Going Home

Back in February 2023 David Gilmour was recording with Mark Knopfler for a Teenage Cancer Trust charity single. The single is a re-recording of Mark Knopfler’s “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)” and will be released on March 15th 2024. It is in support of Teenage Cancer Trust and the band is called Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes. In an amazing twist to the story, there are actually over 60 artists included on the song. In a “We Are The World” style recording, people like Bruce Springsteen, David Gilmour, Slash, Ronnie Wood, Joan Jett, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend and Sting are involved. David Gilmour Recording New Song for Teenage Cancer Trust

David Gilmour has been recording a new song for UK charity Teenage Cancer Trust at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London. Guy Fletcher, Dire Straits keyboard player, recorded them at the London studio which features some rather excellent vintage equipment in addition the modern stuff. Guy said, ” I recorded David yesterday for the TCT project. It was great to see him and Polly. (And their dogs!)”. David Gilmour’s wife and lyricist also posted a couple of photos from the session on her Instagram page. David has been playing his black black strat (not 0001) on the recording which, hopefully, we will know more about soon. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday 15th November 2019) for an epic celebration of the music of Fleetwood Mac’s co-founder Peter Green, and to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour will be joining the one off concert in 2020 in London and looks like it will be a spectacular show and one not to miss! David played to support Teenage Cancer Trust back in 2016 at the Royal Albert Hall. The concert will take place on February 25 at the London Palladium and will see Fleetwood joined onstage by a raft of musicians including Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Johnny Lang, Andy Fairweather Low, John Mayall, Zak Starkey, Bill Wyman and his Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie. David Gilmour will perform a concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 24th April 2016 in aid of British charity Teenage Cancer Trust. Tickets went on sale on Friday and you can get some from Ticketmaster UK. The concert sits between the North American tour and the European tour of 2016.
