Pink Floyd in Record Store Day Event 2020

Record Store Day is a way for artists to support independent record stores and Pink Floyd has been participating for some time as many of you will know. To celebrate Record Store Day 2020, Pink Floyd will release a live recording of the band’s first single, and Syd Barrett’s best-known song, Arnold Layne, via participating stores. Pink Floyd Records has supported Record Store Day since the label’s launch in June 2016, so this release is slightly different from the version that appeared in the recent The Later Years box set. The limited-edition, one-sided Record Store Day 7″ vinyl single boasts new artwork for the release featuring a person caught ‘red-handed’ in handcuffs. Pink Floyd Creative Director Aubrey Powell oversaw the sleeve, newly created by long-time Floyd collaborators, photographer Rupert Truman and designer Peter Curzon, both of StormStudios. Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason has a couple of exciting releases early this year regarding his Saucerful of Secrets touring band which has been going around playing the early days of Pink Floyd music. They are still on tour and have lots of dates this year too. First up, there will be a cinema screening of Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets Live at The Roundhouse. The one night only event takes place at cinemas around the world on Tuesday 10th March 2020, and you can find participating cinemas around the world on the Nick Mason on Film website. Some excellent news for hardcore Pink Floyd fans and collectors was posted on Pink Floyd’s official website… To mark 50 years since the tracks were recorded, Pink Floyd have released a limited edition set of two 7″ singles, containing the band’s first recordings. Entitled Pink Floyd 1965 – Their First Recordings, the songs include Syd Barrett compositions Lucy Leave, Double O Bo, Remember Me, and Butterfly, coupled with Roger Waters’ Walk With Me Sydney, and I’m A King Bee by Slim Harpo. These recordings have been doing the rounds on unofficial bootleg recordings over many decades and it is great that fans can now buy a version of them in the glorious vinyl format. Roger Waters’ solo album Amused to Death has been remixed and remastered and will is released tomorrow much to the delight of many fans. You can pick up a copy from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk and have it shipped to you in no time – it is released 24th July 2015 and is one of many great things happening this year. In The Big Pink Floyd Survey, visitors to this website voted Amused To Death from 1992 as the best solo album amongst all the solo albums released by members of Pink Floyd past and present.
