You think it is really worth 10/10? Maybe a 7?PublicImage wrote:Songs For the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age. It's brilliant.

Re: your 10/10 albums
I have heard of this band quite a bit, albeit it's missing the umlauts. Didn't they put out an album called Phallus Dei as well? If I were to listen, where should I begin?my breakfast. wrote:Amon Duul II's Yeti gets 10/10 from me also!

Re: your 10/10 albums
Yes, their first LP was called Phallus Dei, and I think it's quite a good one, despite the strange name.
Yeti is probably the best starting point as it offers a good representation of their experimental side, their accessible side and their improvisational side. They're generally very strange, but I think they're wonderful! Tanz Der Lemminge is another really good album of theirs.

"K" - Kula Shaker
"Station To Station" - David Bowie

Very interesting list and well detailed
Now , I'm curious about that group!"Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts(1971) and The Least We Can do Is Wave To Each Other(1970)" I wonder if those album are still available! I will have to make a search.
For Graafs you can try Russian mp3 sites

Re: your 10/10 albums
Thanks cymbaline212! I bought the album last weekend and have listened to it twice, though busy with household duties. I will give it a proper listening over the weekend.cymbaline212 wrote:Don't forget Frances The Mute!
I will start with Amon Duul II's Yeti and see what I think! I have heard many good things about this band, and I'm excited to have a listen.

Re: your 10/10 albums
Ok, let me take a stab at this...
Revolver - The Beatles (obviously)
Rubber Soul - same as above
Abbey Road - ditto
Low/Heroes/Lodger - Bowie
Piper - PF 1
Wish You Were Here/Animals - PF 2
Madcap/Barrett - Barrett
Tin Drum - Japan
Secrets of the Beehive - David Sylvian
Soundtracks - Can
The Bends/OK Computer/Kid A/Amnesiac/HTTT - Radiohead
London Calling - The Clash
All Mod Cons - The Jam
White Light, White Heat - Velvet Underground
The Smiths/Meat is Murder/The Queen is Dead - The Smiths
Funeral - The Arcade Fire
Perhaps I shouldn't have started this exercise...too many albums I consider 10/10, so little space!

Re: your 10/10 albums
Brilliant choices. I'm afraid I had to exclude the pre-Kid A albums by Radiohead in the quote, because I just cannot get into them as whole albums, for some reason. But they've all got some great songs on them (even Pablo Honey!).Metal Mickey wrote:Low/Heroes/Lodger - Bowie

I'd also like to mention a few others:
Remember Shakti - The Believer
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven and Yanqui U.X.O. (I haven't heard their other albums/EPs yet, but I'm sure that they'll be 10/10 if they're anything like what I've heard already.)
Sergei Rachmaninoff - Rachmaninoff Plays Rachmaninoff
Howling Bells - S/T
King Crimson - Red
The Modern Lovers - S/T
Philip Glass - Dracula
Thom Yorke - The Eraser
