I finally read this whole thread
and am a bit shocked by how irrational and prejudiced some of you folks are!
I was going to write another lengthy thing here, but dont want to hurt anyones feelings (seriously!)
but the point is...
y'all know Progressive Rock has a seriously bad reputation with most music consumers?
personally theres a half dozen Prog Rock artists I think everyone should listen to and the rest are prone to living up to the most hilarious cliches:
side long songs, failed classical pretensions, pasty English white boys with no soul or rhythm, lyrics about Knights and Dragons!
and the stereotype of the average Prog Rock listener...
well, you know the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons?
thats him!
anyway, I dont want to be mean
I just want to demonstrate that popular stereotypes of predefined musical genres
can prevent folks from discovering something they might like!
never mind is it Rap or is it Progressive Rock or is it a Marching Band
the question is: does this specific artist have something to offer?

I love prog rock (Yes, King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra) and who cares what others say about you. They don't rule your life!J Ed wrote:I finally read this whole thread

Gotta love those white guys at schools that identify with black culture. Had one in my school who called himself 'Rap Master B' and did breakdancing. He thought he was cool. Needless to say nobody else didmy breakfast. wrote:Rap is for genuine black ghetto type people, and middle class whiteys out for a thrill.

Rap is crap now. It is a parody of itself after BIG and 2Pac died.
Artists in no order I detest:
Eminem sounds like Porky Pig without his stutter and is whiny
Jay-Z thinks he is a gangsta when in fact he is a phony CEO
50 Cent, commie thug
Juvenile, racist, sexist, hateful loser
Lauryn Hill, racist bigot
Kanye West, another racist bigot
I can go on!
I liked some old rap:
NWA
Run DMC
The Fat Boys
old Public Enemy
