I'm hope'n Mr Gilmour will revert bak to his 1st couple of solo albums as I just can't get in2 On An Island. I'm hope'n for songs like Murder,All Lovers R Derranged&Out Of The Blue etc. ps. MURDER is my favourite Gilmour solo song. [-D-]

I really like There Is No Way Out of Here. I don't know why he doesn't play that one more.

Indeed. I was going to say "Because he didn't write it" but then again, he doesn't play songs he did write from those first two solo albums either. A shame really. Some of those old songs aren't that awful.

Now that you mention it, I wouldn't mind him doing modern remakes of some of his solo debut stuff. "There's No Way Out of Here" and "Short and Sweet" would probably sound even better with the technology he has today and the experience he's gained over the years.

Who cares about a whole album, it surely will be as bad as all his other solo ones. But if he comes with at least ONE song as good as WYWH or SOYCD or C-Numb or High Hopes or even FOS I would feel very pleased, and VERY surprised.

I quite liked On An Island, especially live. Sounds pretty good and laid back to me.

Sounds a bit like me. Thought On An Island was ok at first. Once I heard if through Live in GDansk I realised how great it really is. Only listen to it via the live CD now though

Good to know there's someone else on the site who liked the album. I don't understand the hate towards it.

The haters only hate themselves!

I think it is quite soothing. A bit like Sonnet 18 which I really like. 8)

Shall I compare thee....

I also LOVE OAI and the softer side of Gilmour. Great clip too!

Perhaps I can clear this up.

It's BORING...DULL...MONOTONOUS...even the solos just sound like someone with no direction noodling endlessly.

The songwriting is lackluster...even the music is kind of..."meh."

And ripping off Abba? Come on, Gilmour...you can do better than that.

My first response to listening to On An Island was "great album to take a nap to."

That's about the nicest thing I can say about it.

Thanks for posting in caps as this always helps clear things up. I guess I must have been wrong about that album after all.
