I prefer Pink Floyd... the "the" sounds a bit pretentious, I think. I still call them "the Floyd", sometimes, but usually, it's just "Floyd".

Never really thought of it until I read this post...been thinking about it ever since.

We all know that Pink Floyd is NOT the name of any performer in the group. However, the last name of a solo performer is typically the shorthand of their name.

Example: Ever listen to Dylan? Lennon was a brilliant lyricist...as is Waters.

Thus, my answer is "Floyd."

Unless I'm feeling British (this happens sometimes,) in which case, I might say "The Floyd."

I always thought they should have kept the name "THE MEGADEATHS". Who knew it would become so popular in the 80's

I donno. If someone called me 'The Mooner' I'd feel kinda paranoid.. like maybe I should avoid cops or people with cameras. Mooner sounds cool...so does Floyd

Pink Floyd sounds better to me. It brings abstract images to my mind. The Pink Floyd sounds like something called "Floyd" is pink.
