Animals. How often do you hear Dogs on the radio? I've heard it once in the U.S. (Maine) but they cut it down to about 6 minutes lol.

I don't think that Animals is overrated or underrated, personally. I think it gets the recognition it deserves from those who have listened to it.

Although Animals is always forgotten between DSOTM, WYWH and Wall, I still think it's far less underrated than AHM, OBC and More.

the simple truth is that most people will never "get into" these albums -heck, most Pink Floyd fans are only into post-Dark Side of the Moon music, so forget about the rock listening general public. This being the case, no pre-1973 album can be considered most underrated

The music on many of the songs, in terms of structure and meaning, are fantastic before dark side of the moon. And to say many people won't be into pink floyd before 1973 is kind of crazy, considering the fact that Echoes was voted the top floyd song on these forums, and that was from 1971.

I do agree with your statement about them not playing animals anymore, though. I find it surprising, because that material is quality played live, yet they just dropped it after 1977-07-06.

They don't play songs from many more albums. I think the reason why they didn't play anything from Animals in 87-94 is that 75% of the songs were written by Roger and the only one remaining - Dogs - is quite long, so they wouldn't have time for Take It Back or complete Dark side in their set lists. Plus David probably doesn't like Roger's lyrics (like in Sheep). What's more - what could you await from a band that dropped Echoes after some 10 or 15 performances because they didn't feel comfortable to sing those lyrics!!!

See, Roger plays Dogs and POTW1, he also played Pigs (3DO) on his earlier tours.

It's definitely not bad, but it isn't underrated either. It's just not their best work.
