OK, I agree this is a little OFF TOPIC ...

There is a free-to-attend exhibition of the sketches and artwork of Gerald Scarfe at Winchester (UK) between 31 March and 27 June -

The Wall is featured ... :)

The exhibition is good, especially as it is free to attend. The canon of work covered includes the Long Drawn-Out Trip (some rather nice frames), The Magic Flute, The Nutcracker, Orpheus in the Underworld, Hercules, Leaf Man from Wish You Were Here and some interesting stuff from The Wall.

The cels from The Leaf Man (Jill Brooks and Mike Stuart) are particularly good to see.

The concept designs and drawings from The Wall include 'War Lord', a four-set of Father / Doctor / Teacher / Mother for the trial sequence, a study of the Mother from the trial, several Wall concepts, the flower sequence design concept and several cels from the flower sequence. There's a cabinet of models, artwork, flag etc from The Wall ... alas, the electric light was not working so it was a bit dark.

Just the one book, a paperback of the making of The Wall, was for sale for £25 but you might as well buy directly from the official Gerald Scarfe web site as you can get an autographed (and dedicated) copy for less. There is a lo-res small image of one of the Wall images on the no-cost handout, and there were some hi-res cards of various items. No prints were available and there is a strict 'no photography' rule.

Worth seeing, but probably not worth travelling a long way for.
