Casting the Members of Pink Floyd for a Biopic

Post by space triangle »

'With the success of the film “Bohemian Rhapsody” about Queen, “Rocketman” about Elton John, and the Netflix hit “The Dirt” about Mötley Crüe, it’s time to think about a biopic of one of the greatest bands of all time, Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd rose to fame in the late 1960’s and 1970’s as one of the leading progressive rock bands. The band’s success was coupled with drama and tragedy. A film about this legendary band would be a must see. One of the reasons that other biopics have enjoyed success is a great director and excellent casting. This isn’t always easy to do. Another factor that makes a good biopic of musicians is when the tone of the film matches the tone of the band and their music. Fans of the band want to experience what it was like when the band formed, reached success and probably experienced some drama and tension. A great director and casting makes all the difference. Here are some great ideas for casting a biopic of Pink Floyd'

P.S I remember vividly the old NPF thread aobot a possible Pink Floyd movie. It was discused Johnny Depp as Syd Barrett, and Ashton Kutcher as David Gilmour. :lol: Among other things.

I suppose that thread is buried somewhere here in the NPF archive, but I didn't want to re-open such an old thread again.

Ben Whishaw is great in everything he does, too. He could be a future Doctor, in my opinion.

I wouldn't use the actors from the BBC docudrama, "Syntax Era" about the rivalry between Sir Clive Sinclair and Sir Alan Sugar in the computer trade battles. But... I would use it as a template in a Pink Floyd biopic.
The post Wall break up between Waters and the band... Filmed as a Cold War drama with full on melodrama.
There's no way the miserable buggers would even consider such a film. But that's the only biopic I'd want from Pink Floyd.

I like the suggestion for Rick Wright; as I have no one better to suggest, I'll keep him.

But I would have Adam Driver play Roger:

Tom Payne for Gilmour:

Logan Lehrman for Nick:

And Freddie Highmore as Syd Barrett:

Biopics diminish reality. As a fan of pink floyd I don't want a biopic. I don't want some fantasy or myth served up as reality. I think we've had way more than enough of that.

Simon Pegg as a little older Nick Mason. :lol:

Hey, there is no need to look like Nick. The right amount of makeup, and the 70's wardrobe make wonders. :-;

Roger should be played by someone with depth.

I'd suggest Nick Moran of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels as Roger Waters, but he usually plays likeable characters.
