Some very interesting points have been made on this thread, and I think the topic is worthy of discussion. The point that Oz made about body language is extremely important. Body language is 90% of communication. People have to attempt to be empathetic when they are reading the posts of others. It helps to put yourself in the other person's shoes. I have personally only had experience with this forum, because I come from a time of snail-mail, and phones that weighed ten-pounds, and I will never really trust "the internet". That being established, I stumbled on NPF when I first got a pc, and having lived many places, and done many things, I can say without reservation that the people on this forum are very special. The intelligence and wit of the members is what brings me back. I clearly remember a time when I didn't have the opportunity to communicate with people across the globe, at will. This is much better. If people can reach out and become friends across the boundries of space, without the interference of political, religious, economic, or social constraints, that is a marvelous thing, imho. Perhaps the human race can actually start evolving before we extinguish ourselves.
