Re: Worst Guitar Solos
For some reason, the guitar solo in Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" came to mind. No idea why but it's a horrible song and an horribler solo.

I admit I made that post because I wanted someone to say something offensive. Good for you for not taking my bait. SRV is a better blues guitarist then I'll ever be.
Here is a better worse guitar solo:
Anything by Motley Crue

I hate Stevie Ray Vaughan's live solos. Same, same, same. Get lost wanker. Oh wait...he already did. Poor Stevie.Idisaffect wrote:Anything by SRV.You can't clone or re-own Jimi. It just wont do.
Carbon copies of Hendrix are not possible. If you can't come up with your own style then who needs you?

Ok lads... name your perfect solo geetar part then please...Stephen wrote:That one's got my vote.PooF wrote: This includes Gilmour's extended Comfortably Numb
It is a bit streched, aspecially on the pulse tour, but it doesent deserve to be mentioned in the context of the worst guitar solo.
David Smith wrote:To be honest I can't stand the first solo on comfortably numb
Well, I can.

Theme One by Van Der Graaf Generator. The guitar sounds more like a saxophone for god's sake. Fools.

Re: Worst Guitar Solos
Maybe worst guitar solo is exaggerating a little but, as I mentioned elsewhere, Gilmour's solos with Floyd have generally been the perfect length, leaving you wanting that little bit more. On the Pulse version I feel that he totally ruins the song with the extended soloing though. I still think of his solos in Time as being my favourite of all, but then Time is also my favourite Floyd song . Or is that Echoes, I can never decide.Damn!t wrote:Ok lads... name your perfect solo geetar part then please...Stephen wrote: That one's got my vote.

Re: Worst Guitar Solos
Gilmour's guitar sound was way too bright on "Time." Its so bright and has so much treble, that it ended up sounding more distorted than it was probably supposed to. His solos on "Hey You" and "Mother" are really good; that was a good sound.
As far as worst guitar solos go, listen to the solo on "Freewill" by Rush. That, my friends, is a load of bullshit.

Re: Worst Guitar Solos
Being that people are mentioning Gilmour here, i gotta say that the solo on The Fletcher Memorial Home makes my ears bleed.
Far from the worst solo of all time though, i just wanted to say it

I used to have a Radio-Shack toy guitar and I swear to you all that I could play that whole solo on it! It only had like 8 buttons on it with a tone knob and a whammy bar, but I could always get a few laughs from doing that.Being that people are mentioning Gilmour here, i gotta say that the solo on The Fletcher Memorial Home makes my ears bleed.
