Oddly enough, I never learned to play any Zeppelin song, or many other songs for that matter. From the time I picked up the guitar, I was trying to write my own stuff. But I was influenced by those artists.

Are you going to address all the plagiarism accusations? I'm a big Zeppelin fan, and therefore it's hard for me to admit it, but he really had a go of calling other people's ideas his.

That is a good blog. I saw your post about Page's 'dragon' telecaster over on TDPRI as well.

Whole Lotta Love is such a weird song. I was thinking about it for the last few days. It starts with that really crispy guitar tone that seems to have all sorts of wolf tones and weird harmonics in it. This is coupled with, of all things, quite a big echo with quite a lot of pre-delay. The bass is also weird on it. It seems Page recorded both an amped electric bass and the same bass 'unplugged'.

Such a weird and horrible sound on its own, but it blends well with the track. Sounds like some sort of shortscale bass such as Danelectro rather than JPJ's usual jazz bass.

Jimmy Page = greatest guitar player ever.

In certain aspects I may well agree with you.
He's not the most technical of guitar players by a long way, there are many far better than him on this level but for sheer emotion and power, he's one of the best.
