Ennio Morricone RIP

Post by henno »

sad to hear yesteray of the passing of this music legend.

His soundtrack to the mission was one of my fav collections in my formative years... you can go from the sense of ultimate tranquility of Gabriels Oboe to the menacing being hunted and chased of "refusal"

my favourite piece from him though is "Chi Mai" which he composed himself in 1971 before using in various media works.
its timeless and beautiful

RIP to a genuine musically legend

Indeed. Sergio Leone apparently reckoned that Morricone's scores were more important to his films than the dialogue.

Agreed, very sad news ... 'Mission' should have won the Oscar (but that's another story), the music on 'Once Upon a Time in the West' and 'Once Upon a Time in America' is some of the best film music around; plus we shouldn't forget 'The Legend of 1900' which some die-hard PF fans will own for the non-Morricone track at the end.
