David Gilmour - 2006 Tour - First dates Emerge

Post by Damn!t »

Some eagerly-awaited news for our European friends; the first three dates of David Gilmour's 2006 tour, to coincide with the release of his new album, have now emerged.

The venues known so far are of a similar size to his 2001/2002 dates, which should mean a nice, intimate performance. The two French dates below were given in the new issue of Rock & Folk magazine in that country, with the announcement of the shows attributed to David himself.

As yet, we don't have full details of the tour; we expect a number of other venues to be confirmed in due course, and will bring news of this as we get it. So, here's what is known so far:

11th March - CCH, Hamburg
15th March - Grand Rex, Paris
16th March - Olympia, Paris
There is a website where you can already order tickets for the Hamburg show - which is http://www.karsten-jahnke.de but we don't know if this is an official ticket agency for the venue; we understand that tickets for the Paris shows go on sale on 28th November, from the venue and normal ticket agents.

We know how keen you lot are to grab tickets as soon as they become available!

More information on upcoming dates, with ticketing details and so on, to follow as soon as we have it...

I am considering Paris, actually. Will look into how much it'd cost later. If it's reasonable then definitely, Keith. :D

He'll almost certainly play some UK shows too. I'd like to see 2 or 3 shows ideally.

Good good! I had tickets to see him at the Meltdown concert on the seats at the back of the stage: choir seats. Had a uni exam the same day so had to sell them damn it!!

I wont be missing this bout of shows!!! :D

Heh, this sounds like you guys are talking to Santa...

Yup, it would be great to see ol' Dave somewhere near this part of the galaxy. Hell, Austria would be great.

New York City!!!

How big are the venues that we know he's playing in? I wonder if he'll be playing in the large arenas (15,000 - 20,000) or the smaller more intimate places (3,000 - 5,000). Either way, come to the USA!
