I like "No More Lonely Nights" also. I didn't know he also played on "Back To the Egg".
My friends ragged me back then because I liked that album.
Spinal Tap was great. Nice to see he "got it". Sebastian Bach said Steven Tyler didn't cack a smile thru that movie.

I'd forgotten this one even though I have it on DVD ....yes it's good.Hudini wrote:Bunking this thread upwards, I really liked David's soundtrack for Arthur C. Clarke's documentary "The Colours Of Infinity". It's out there on YouTube somewhere.

Although I probably love the song more for it's own sake, it doesn't hurt that Gilmour does what he does best in it.
My vote is also for "Pink and Velvet". Nice mix of light and heavy guitar work, his approach reminds me in places of "Comfortably Numb" even though the music is very different. May it's just the epic nature of the solos? As good as both songs are I always find myself wanting them to hurry up and get to the solos!
I haven't heard most of the other music listed in the opening post, I expect there's some gold to be found! And on Atomic Rooster's "Headline News" album, Gilmour plays bass on 2 or 3 tracks, no guitar work that I'm aware of.

This track is pretty obscure, I think. David Gilmour -Song For My Sara

Not counting any of his solo albums, I'd say his set from the 2002 Meltdown Festival. I love it enough to rip the audio from my favorite performances and put them on an audio CD.

Oh, Hogtown you pervert!!! I agree with Give Blood and love the S.F. Sorrow guest spot a few years back.Hogtown wrote:Sara for sure. Sniffa, its the lips and look in her eye and special little boobies!
I like Give Blood w/Pete and those 80's tunes with Brian Ferry...

I actually had to look up "Give Blood" after nosaj mentioned it because I'd never heard it before. For Gilmour's 80s work, it's not bad, but it's definitely aged.

Actually, speaking of Pete Townshend and Gilmour...Gilmour's guest appearance in 1996 (I think?) with the Who on Quadrophenia is awesome, especially when Gilmour sings the line "I am a man who looks after the PIGS..."

LOL! Wouldn't it have been ironic if Roger sang that line instead?

It's gotta be this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8tTykAkKs0
Never have I seen such a modest part sound so big and say so much. Just hanging out and jamming. That is all.

I love the rawness of that clip you just posted. As wonderful as Gilmour's solo was, I can see why my family loves Paul McCartney so much. That was beautiful.pastchristmas wrote:It's gotta be this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8tTykAkKs0
