Dave retired?

I can't see anything on DG's site that says he hasn't retired. I'm not implying he has, but I assumed that there would be some indication of future activity there.

With his favorite guitars at the V & A and possibly on tour with the exhibition for the next 5 years he might well have retired

I don't expect other tours that much but he did say that he was working on 30 songs.

His black strat, candy apple red 57 reissue strat and 55 esquire are both part of the exhibition in London.

His ovation acoustic (used on CN) and Lewis guitars are also there.

So an acoustic album maybe? (I guess the D-35 isn't there hehe)

Perhaps Dave will be endorsed by Encore guitars, and will be using them exclusively for recording and live work.
