The Wall
On 21 July 1990, ex-Pink Floyd member Roger Waters staged a gigantic charity concert of The Wall to commemorate the end of the division between East and West Germany. The concert took place at Potsdamer Platz - specifically an area of the former No Man's Land just to the north of the Reich Chancellery site. Re: The Wall
While at the same time, the electricity company was on strike.
That wasn't exactly what happened, but the show was severely interrupted by technical problems.
I've read, that part of the live broadcast of 'Mother' was in fact the rehearsal video, to smooth them over.

I believe that is the case for the DVD you can buy. They used stuff from the rehearsal video and re-did some of it again after the concert finished.Wolfpack wrote:While at the same time, the electricity company was on strike.

I don't think they dropped that in during the live broadcast though. I think they just panned the camera to views of the crowd. I have it on VHS tape but nothing to play it on so cant check that that is, in fact what happened.
I cant remember being aware of any technical problems whilst actually watching it. Only that some of the B-rated celebs Roger got in to sing made some mistakes. But I had consumed a large amount of German beer and that, together with the incredible atmosphere of the venue, meant I was somewhere out in space at the time.

Re: The Wall
so during Mother the sound went - Roger and Skinhead O'Connor looked a bit lost and Roger started tap dancing!! after a short period of time the sound was restored and the concert carried on. On the video released of the show they used the rehearsal footage of Mother and they also replayed that section of the show after in the early hours of the morning.

I was also there and although I was aware that something was amiss, the problems were lessened by the German beer, excellent crowd, atmosphere and venue. I'll have to dig out, it's somewhere in the loft, a large format cardboard display issued for the DVD as my head is visible in the crowd of allegedly 450,000Isntthiswherewe wrote:...
