Crazy Diamond by Mike Watkinson and Pete Anderson is a very good read

Madcap by Tim Willis is ok

Lost in the Woods by Julian Palacios is very poetic, detailed and a sensitive recall of Syd's life and career - good luck trying to get it.

Inside Out - Nick Mason has an honest interpretation of events as does Pigs might fly, which I am currently reading at the moment.

Random Precision Recording The Music Of Syd Barrett 1965-1974 by David Parker.

Contains all the recordings of Syd Barrett, the book uses a chronological diary format, and includes technical recording notes and exclusive interviews with Peter Jenner, Andrew King, Peter Bown, Alan Parsons, John Leckie and others.

Hopefully the book that his sister is said to be working on will give us some new insight.

wow! i had no idea she was working on a book! :o
it only makes sense.

the syd books are all real cliff hangers, which is fine. like the fans, the authors seem to veer from adoration to contempt. and like the fans, the authors have not much to go on. i always hoped that RKB would "set the record straight" somehow.

i like the fact that books about him were found in his house. does anyone know which ones? i read that in an australian article, i believe. i'm just guessing but i think that maybe the mick rock one was in his house.

i REALLY liked 'fish out of water' by luca ferrari and it's probably because of the long interviews w/rosemary.

and the 'random precision' book has lots of interesting information, including the fact that he was back to his 'madcap laughs' era look when he was recording in 1974. i do wish i knew what the page w/his signatures on them was all about. where they came from, etc.

I read Crazy Diamond and thought it was pretty decent. Could do a lot worse than that

I beleive someone else mentioned Inside Out. That would also be a good choice. Has quite a lot of Syd, and the rest of its a good read too.
