We drove the kids out last Spring during Easter break and spent most of the day there. It you haven't seen it before it's basically a huge museum filled with all sorts of weird stuff. They say from beginning to end you walk over 2 miles.
Uh...yeah. We went there the first year we moved here--1989--they sure know how to grab the touristas with all their roadside ads. I guess they've added even more now, according to the official website (which is not that good a site, so I'm not including the URL). I don't know how to describe it, for those who've never seen it, but it's like...Frank Lloyd Wright dropped acid with Lewis Carroll in an antique toy shop.

This site gives a pretty good review: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/WISPRhouse.html

We went in the fall, thank goodness, as I see it's not air conditioned. Don't ever go in the summer! And it was rather pricey, too, from what I remember. I think it was like $12 or $17 per person (forgot), which by 1989 standards was quite high, even more than what we paid at the world famous San Diego Zoo two years prior. How much was it when you went, quicksilver?

It's a must-see to get what I consider a cheesey Wisconsin flavour, but it'll leave you yearning for something more down to earth, IMHO. The next trip we took after that was to see the Cave of the Mounds which is near HOTR, which I enjoyed much more.

And this is weird, but I've still never been to the Wisconsin Dells. I went when I was 14 w/my parents, but that doesn't really count. I'm sure it's all touristed-out now w/fake-o water parks and casinos (from what I gather in the ads around here), and none of the natural beauty from what I can remember that long ago is left.
It was quite expensive, I'd say $25-$27 for adults (kids were cheaper). It certainly makes you want to stay all day to get your moneys worth. It a place you need to see at least one time. Of course they've added alot since '89. We went down to Six Flags in early August and the kids had much more fun there.

The Dells is a completely different story all together. If you haven't been there since you were 14, your in for a big surprise. It's like a mini Vegas just loaded with hotels and restaurants. Actually, we'll be up at the "Wilderness Hotel" in fall with all my in-laws. They kind of treat the family for a few days. They have a incredible indoor water park that is just a blast. If you do go up sometime, you must eat at the "Moosejaw". It's a BBQ/ micro-brewery. Great food/beer.

You know, Robert Fripp and other King Crimson musicians use to read The Elephant Talk, the biggest forum about their music, and quite often reply... So sometimes people get very ironic replies from Mr Fripp himself, when they write something extremely stupid about their music (it's a very "serious" forum, so no bubbling about private issues allowed)... I haven't got any reply yet, maybe he could not understand my English
Whoa! Robert Fripp uses the internet!!!!

Yes, he doesn't look like  , but he's really a modern, open-minded person. He even has his own web-log (on DGM site), where writes about recording, touring, as well as about eating in foreign restaurants, missing his wife when touring, or meeting his old friends. That's veeeery interesting. And other musicians have their own web-sites (I like Trey Gunn's very much). They're probably the most Internet-friendly band :D !

On the other hand, Mike Scott from the Waterboys is very nice - if you leave a comment or question on their official site, he nearly always replies. I know, they're not big stars anymore, but still very good and quite famous band, so that's really nice of him.

Just a minor Floyd-esque dream last night...looking through some book/yearbook/desk calendar and there were pictures of Roger Waters in it, as well as pictures of my husband as a child/young person (when he wore bangs) and...Zsa Zsa Gabor. My husband was embarrassed of me seeing the pic of Zsa Zsa and I woke up laughing. Don't even ask...I have no clue.

 It seems to be a kind of competition between your idols - Roger Waters versus Zsa Zsa Gabor (even if she's not your husband idol)... interesting

Freud could have a picnic with you, Libby...

My first Floyd dreams were Roger-related, and in every dream (well, they were about 2-3 actually) he was a complete ass. And the worst part, is that everybody else in my dream supported him in the task of making me look stupid. Embarrassing...so, if anyone wants my Roger dreams, you can have 'em!!
But lately, I've been dreaming about David...I wonder why, it's not like I like him that much, anyway (though I gotta confess the man's hot)
I had one this morning, just beofre waking up, but I dreamt I was somebody else, in fact, I could see myself (ever had one of those dreams where you're like a camera that can see yourself? It's odd, coz you know that the person you're seeing is still you!) and I remember that David was in the long hair and beard age (like my avatar, actually), and that I was being very obnoxious, and I was annoying the hell outta him (I was worst than Fran Drescher...in fact, I looked a bit like Fran Drescher! -in The nanny!!......ugh)
Turns out I was acting like that coz I liked him (and not like, but 'like-like'...my subconsience is freaking me out), and I wanted to break his then current marriage, so he'd marry me instead, or whatever my masterplan was.
And then something else happened that I can't remember, and then I was somebody else, but David was still there, and then I woke up, curse my mom for waking me up in the middle of one of the only dreams that had made a bit of sense!!

I have the exact same dreams as Libby. :p

Image

But seriously folks.
I've had Floyd related dreams before, I think the first one was when i left PULSE playing on repeat (both CDs), and in my dream i had the CDs and i put them into a DVD player, and i watched it, and Pink Floyd were playing in the studio that Parkinson is filmed in.

then i think the CDs were stolen, and i chased the culprits in my car. Pink Floyd were playing on the radio.

The next dream I had was where I was discussing chord progessions with Roger Waters. I remember saying some really intelligent stuff about the structure of music as well, but I don't remember any of what was actually said. then we jammed, and we duetted on 'Flickering Flame' and 'Perfect Sense'

I might have left the Flickering Flame *best of* CD repeating in the player that time as well.

I'm going to leave Wish You Were Here and Animals in the CD player tonight... I let you know the results tomorrow.
