Just my fifth of a dime, but I'm more offended by people who use the word "retarded" to describe a person with a legitimate difference of ability.
I think it's more apt to use it for someone who COULD advance their development...but choose not to.
A person with Down's Syndrome has Down's Syndrome...they're not retarded, in my book.
To "retard" something is to inhibit it's growth. People with Down's Syndrome (I keep using this one...but it's just an arbitrary example,) are capable of growth...it's just limited.
When a person willingly shuts their mind, their growth is stopped.
To bastardize a phrase: "There are none so retarded as those who WILL NOT learn."
But...that's just me.
Examples of Roger's moodiness in 1984 interviews

Someone who shouts "MONEY" during "Pigs On The Wing."
Stupid, eh?
Obtuse? Yes...they are obviously not "getting it."
Ineffective? Is Roger going to stop playing "POTW" and start playing "Money" instead? No.
Flashback, I hope you know I'm just having fun here

I understand your position and actually support you on it, for what that's worth. It IS a terrible word in ANY usage.
But...I couldn't resist the above once I saw that definition

Well, we've definitely had some interesting discussion in this thread, but we have yet to find any quotes from 1984 interviews.
Keith recently put one up on that torrent contraption, so I figure there's some good stuff on there. If anyone has seen that please post several of Roger's quotes on here, or for that matter any quote from a 1984 interview with Roger.

... not to bring tha last argument up but, Tiger Woods was interviewed after the masters and he said he was playing like a 'spaz'.... does that word have a different meaing in the states than here??, where its a derivative of spastic... which would make it Very politically incorrect?
its just a question, i dont want to start a whole debate on this??
