I am utterly devestated.

It is almost like loosing a member of my own family. This is so hard to comprehend.

Syd's time in the band was brief, but he left an indelible mark on not only the other members, but on millions of people worldwide. It is unarguable that Syd is the reason that Pink Floyd became the huge force that it did, not only through his work with them, but by influencing them later through his own life experiences.

Syd's life was tragic and sad, but we are all richer for what he contributed to our own. My condolences go out to Syd's family and Roger, David, Nick and Richard, and to all that were touched by his own form of brilliance.

To Syd. No more struggle mate. You no longer have to battle the stresses and confusion that your life gave you. May you rest peacefully and Shine on you crazy diamond.

Syd Was Our Skip Spence

Post by zeppody »

She was long gone, long, long gone
she was gone, gone, the bigger they come
the larger her hand 'till no one understands
why for so long she'd been gone.

And I stood very still by the window sill
and I wondered for those I love still
I cried in my mind where I stand behind
the beauty of love's in her eyes...

She was long gone, long, long gone
she was gone, gone, the bigger they come
the larger her hand 'till no one understands
why for so long she'd been gone.

And I borrowed the page
from a leopard's cage
and I prowled in the evening sun's glaze
her head lifted high to the light in the sky
the opening dawn on her face...

She was long gone long, long gone
she was gone, gone, the bigger they come
the larger her hand 'till no one understands
why for so long she'd been gone.

And I stood very still by the window sill
and I wondered for those I love still
I cried in my mind where I stand behind
the beauty of love's in her eyes...

She was long gone long, long gone
she was gone, gone, the bigger they come
the larger her hand 'till no one understands
why for so long she'd been gone.

She was long gone long, long gone

I hope you found the tranquility you'd been seeking these past few decades, and that your time here on Earth filled you with as much satisfaction and joy as you have imparted on so many of us.

At one with The All now.

Shine eternal Roger Barrett.

I was taken aback. First clue for the day was seeing My Breakfast had changed his MSN name to RIP Syd Barret, but i was busy so was appearing offline and assumed he meant something else.

Then a few hours later i got a call of my girlfriend asking me if i'd heard and i was shocked... I mean she's barely even a fan (or so she claims) but it was her telling me rather than the other way round. Surprised was not the word

Last night i listened to piper at the gates of dawn, today it's been the madcap laughs and later tonight Barret and Wish You Were Here. Dug out the documentry dvd too and just stayed up watching it last night. Just something you take for granted that your favourite rockstars will always be around

Shine on Syd, sure we'll all miss you here and thanks for all the good times you've provided so far (and the many more to come)

When did he died?

It was a strange day on 07-07-2006.
I went to the store to buy the Pulse DVD.

I've to tell you all I was mentaly ill since 1999 and had visited a doctor for that. He gave me pills for it against psychosis and depressions.
After that I havent got visions anymore because I couldn't function anymore.

I stopped with those pills 1 month ago after a great struggle.
Now I'm better but again very sensitive.
But I know now how to work with it.

So I would left the shop but something drove me to the DVD box again and I picked up the Syd Barrett story DVD and bought it on 14:47 07-07.
Strange isn't it, something pushed me to buy that DVD.

Yesterday I've heard the news after I fineshed watching that DVD.

I know for sure that there is more between heaven and earth and that Syd has now the rest he deserve.
Without Syd there wasn't probably Pink Floyd as we now it and we couldn't enjoy that wonderfull music!

Okay Syd, have a wonderfull time upstairs

Thanks for the warm words Shan. It's lovely to see you again.

I cried for four hours solid yesterday, when I heard.
Then off and on for two hours.
Then a lot as I was falling asleep listening to PATGOD.
Yes, even after all this time, I still listen to Syd/ PF every day.

With Roger Keith Barrett passing, it feels to me, like a little piece of majick has been stripped away form earth.
That's how I've always thought of Syd. As something majickal.

It makes it easier to celebrate his life, when I read other people's comments about how he affected their lives.
Beautiful comments people.

This is how I want to think of where Roger is right now:
Flaming
(Barrett)
Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown.
Yippee! You can't see me
But I can you.

Lazing in the foggy dew
Sitting on a unicorn.
No fair, you can't hear me
But I can you.

Watching buttercups cup the light
Sleeping on a dandelion.
Too much, I won't touch you
But then I might.

Screaming through the starlit sky
Traveling by telephone.
Hey ho, here we go
Ever so high.

Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown.
Yippee! You can't see me
But I can you.
