I think the idea of giving the aproximate location of the seat the recorder was in is great...so, if you have, say 3 known sources from a specific date, you could synch them, and maybe get a fuller sound...

so, I love this idea of yours Mr. K., mostly 'cause I'm too lazy to do it myself.

thats why matrix's are so good... cos usually one source doesn't have what the other has and vice verser. a sbd usually doesn't have that ambience created by an audience so a matrix with a good sbd and good audience is always worthy of ejaculation.

but finding out where the taper was 30 years ago is like finding a needle in a haystack lol... sometimes the taper noted those kind of things but usually not lol

its a nice idea keith... any way of us previewing what ur up to? and if u need any assistance you know you can ask me concerning anything. remember pf roio's is my forte :D

i now have approx 800 PF recordings/dvd's and i've listened/watched them all so any questions are welcome :)

i would also help with the pink floyd portion.
will you allow memebers to add bands? i have alot of Molly Hatchet and Kix soundboards, that are probably not circulated due to the fact i did light/soundwork for them when i worked for my uncles lighting and sound co. and have direct access to tapes that were done. (wish i could say that about floyd  )

I am happy for people to add any bands they like but will be focusing on Pink Floyd myself.

The site is very raw and in development right now so there is nothing much to see! I shall do some work on it tonight as I am not going out. Hoepfully will get it to a state where volunteers will be able to start adding data!

Well I may bring this up to late but here it goes.

Why won't you use a content content managment system like durpal or a web application framework like CakePHP?

Those CMS programs are rather stiff I think and don't offer much flexibility. I think I would rather design something custom from scratch!! 8) I had a look at CakePHP and think that, by the time I have learnt about using it, I could have designed a fair amount of my application without it's help. I may look at it more in the future though.

I like the idea of building the thing myself. That is part of the fun!

Well, I've been a PF fan for years, but extremely new to this whole ROIO/VOIO thing.. it's a whole new world for me!!! So..on that note, I think this idea, Keith, is a FABULOUS idea, since i've been just getting what I'm told is good, and hand outs thus far.. My collection needs a bit more organizational help and this is something that will definately benefit someone like me....

Thanks! If you need any help with anything.... I'd be happy to help... with as little as I'm able to atleast...

I will be spending about 12 months on the project... doing little bits when I can. I am studying for my accountancy exams at the mo so can't dedicate too much time to it. I am just working on the admin area to add/edit/delete venues/city/country/concert's and will probably have that bit done in 1-2 weeks. Then the "data entry" can start to add all concert's they played in which venue, city, country and on which date.

The next step will probably be to add the Songs/Setlist module to attach to each concert what was played.

The next step will probably be to add the "RoIO Module" to attach recordings info to a particular concert and/or have the RoIO not attached to a concert as it might be a vompilation!

Another module will be "media/tv/radio apearances perhaps.

Another module will be for RoIO traders to build up their lists and see what each other has. I may decide this module is redundant though due to the decrease in trading by post in recent years. I shall have to think about that one.

Yeah, so all that may take a while especially with me fitting in work, study, play and administering this site. :)
