So far i've only managed to get a brand new Dark Side, being the 30th special edition one. :) Doesn't half sound good, I miss my record player every day whilst I am at university - not being able to take it with me!

I doubt that'll happen it ill all by cd/dvd from no on :(

C'mon they just have to release this on vinyl. Lot's of stuff is being released on vinyl at the moment, this one has to be released on vinyl. It just would be a travesty if they don't at least do a mono piper on vinyl. Hopefully they will fix the remix they did on the CD release 10 years ago, it is too bright, loud etc, just like a really badly mastered CD.

Oh my...I would love a deluxe vinyl box of this item with bigger artwork in the booklet, and with record covers made at the dimensions that made LP cover art some of the most iconic images of the last century, and of course, the sweet sound of vinyl, which is the medium that recordings back then were tailored to. Give it to me!!!!!!!

Probably already mentioned...but maybe the two x-tra tunes will be Vegetable Man and Scream Thy Last Scream. That would be cool.

seems to me most of their "recent" releases have had a vinyl version
Opel, Division Bell, PULSE, Dark Side reissue w new artwork, Relics reissue w new artwork, vinyl reissues of both Syd solo albums, Echoes, On An Island...
I dont know about the LiveWall, if it came out on vinyl I never saw it
I think Roger and Ricks solo albums are the only ones that didnt get a vinyl release

the target market of this Piper reissue will be old hippy record collector types, so a vinyl version seems likely

Uh, that would never happen. Those songs have nothing to do with Piper. They would never release King Bee

Well, that would be cool but we already have excellent sounding copies of those 2 tracks. I want something new, like the early version of Matilda Mother and the alternate Ch. 24. Those are really the only 2 unheard items from the Piper sessions in the vault.

Again, nothing was *remixed* 10 years ago. There is only 2 Piper mixes, 1967 mono mix and the 1967 stereo mix. Piper has never been remixed, it's impossible to remix it as the multitracks no longer exist. The 30th Anniversary edition of the mono mix did have awful mastering but it's the original mono mix..

Official news from http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/index.php

Tuesday 5th June: Floyd Lays Plans For Piper

To mark the 40th anniversary of the original release of Pink Floyd's first album 'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn', a special edition is planned for release via EMI Records on Tues 28th August in North America, and Monday September 3rd in Europe.

The packaging, designed by Storm Thorgerson, resembles a cloth-covered book, and holds 3 CD discs, along with a 12-page reproduction Syd Barrett notebook. Discs 1 and 2 will contain the full 'Piper' album, represented in both stereo and mono versions. Both have been newly remastered by James Guthrie. Disc 3 includes bonus tracks, including the following: all the Pink Floyd singles from 1967, ('Arnold Layne', 'See Emily Play', and 'Apples And Oranges'), plus the B sides 'Candy And A Current Bun' and 'Paintbox'. Other tracks are a version of 'Interstellar Overdrive' - Take 2 of the original recording sessions, previously only available on an EP in France - and the 1967 stereo version of 'Apples And Oranges'.

Other activities surrounding the 40th anniversary celebrations will be announced in due course.
