It seems to me, that whenever Roger lip syncs, it is usually to parts of songs like Every Stranger's Eyes that have notes he can no longer reach. It isn't about not wanting to sound less than perfect, it is about the singer's nightmare. Trying to sing a high note and all that comes out is an ugly, throaty growl or a voice break. That's why he uses vocal tracks. They have been using audio cues and such in their shows since DSOTM and probably before, but I can't remember exactly where it originated.
Gilmour did indeed cover a lot of vocals in live performances for the same reason, because it was often hard for Roger to even come close to the studio versions. It was especially difficult when they started doing Have A Cigar live, considering that Roy Harper sang it on the album, due to neither David or Roger feeling they could get it quite right.
There is no crime in what Roger does. He isn't cheating or betraying anyone, just making his shows more enjoyable considering his advancing years and increasing vocal limitations.

i don't care for roger much but i think if you read through these posts you will find that i have defended him on a number of occasions.
i have seen david perform with rick and nick and i have seen roger perform on his own. i preferred the latter to the former.
it has been said that NPF forum is full of roger bashers but this is simply not true. while i can not speak for everyone here i think most people on this forum give all the members of Pink Floyd the respect they deserve.
at the end of the day its all about personal preference.
for the record i didn't see any evidence of lip syncing at the concert in Perth.
when you go to a concert you pay for a performance and you get one. the man is on the stage for about two and a half hours and he is in his 60s. give him a break he is only human.
