Oddly enough, he keeps parting me from my money as well. I finished reading it last week. It's a good entertaining read and doesn't have that rehashed feeling that's always a great danger when writing about Pink Floyd. There are some great photos in the centre as well.

I read it up to the pictures in the middle last night. Good book. I did find one little factual error last night, but can't quite remember what it is...something like mentioning an album title instead of a song title - very minor really. In fact, a lot of the quotes you have already read have more context or opinions surrounding them.

Buy it.

I'm afraid I've been bad this year, so I'll just have to buy for myself. 8)

I have one under the tree wrapped up, but I am not supposed to know I have it. Hubby really should hide his receipts. 8)

I ordered the U.S. version of this (unimaginatively titled Comfortably Numb) from amazon...anyone know if there are any differences between the U.S. and U.K. versions aside from the title?

Does it avoid the trap other books fall in to by not giving Syd an entire third of the content?

The first part of the book has Syd in it naturally, but it goes into depth about Gilmour and his significance earlier on before he joined the Floyd and more detail about Wright, Waters and Mason.
It has a different vibe to other books I have read. So far to me it is detailed, without being long-winded, honest and an excellent read.
Must now go back to reading it. :D

At the 1/3 point of the book, we're at the Saucerful of Secrets/More phase and Pink Floyd has been banned from the Royal Albert Hall :D

It is a very good book. It doesn't have the cut 'n paste feel to it that I've come across in other books. It helps that the writer has actually interviewed many of the key personnel. He's also put a lot of research into it and has done so without it all becoming too dry.
