I bought In The Wake Of Poseidon (40th Ann.) - I haven't listened to it in years. The nice thing is that one track without Lake singing, has a bonus track with him doing a vocal guide.

EDIT: I should say I did buy the Court 5 cd + 1 dvd set on December 24, while doing some last minute shopping...it was an impulse buy, because I got a Christmas bonus...I ripped it and promptly sold it. 8-[

I saw King Crimson twice in the early 1970s,once with Jamie Muir the crazed percussionist at the time of 'Larks Tongue' & subsequently the same lineup but minus Jamie that featured on 'Starless And Bible Black'. One of the most powerful bands in memory with some formidable live improvisation. My choices reflect my experiences of the band.

My favourite albums by the band:

1/ 'Starless And Bible Black' -
2/ 'Larks Tongue In Aspic.
3/ 'Islands'
4/ 'In The Court Of The Crimson King'.
5/ 'Red'.

I used to hate Starless & Bible Black because it seemed that nothing was happening on most of the songs; then one day I listened to it with headphones in a dark and calm enviroment and realized that the album has a lot going but at VERY low decibels. Very delicate and free form sound.

Name that Crimson song now!

I love when you accidentally find music from bands you like used in things you used to watch years before getting familiarized with the band's music. It's like that Zappa in Miami Vice video, probably I watched it when I was a kid, but back then I didn't know who the weasel duster actually was :D

its buried deep in the mix but I can maybe hear the opening tones of Satori in Tangier in the middle bit
the percussive music at the end is something different though Im sure
maybe its something else completely that just sort of coincidentally sounds like 80s Crimson for a few seconds?

Yep, it's the intro of Sartori In Tangier up until 0:39, then it changes to something else; and the part at the end I think is an old Nine Inch Nails song, don't remember the name right now.

Yeah. It's got a song on it that is a one chord progression. What sort of KC is that?

Actually, early Crimson wasn't that complex, from time to time I feel tempted to start a thread titled: King Crimson Were NOT a Prog-Rock Band!

Try counting 1 2 3 4 to the 21st century schizoid man riff... I don't think the majority of early KC is prog but i mean 1 chord? I wouldn't even call that a song.
