i will miss a great and influential musician.

pink floyd and richard wright were part of my earliest musical influences, when i discovered ummagumma, obscured by clouds, atom heart mother and other early releases when i was fourteen years old. now, nearly thirty years later, this influence still lives on.

my thoughts are with his friends and family in these difficult days and i hope, that the love and respect of so many fans, including myself, will be helpful for them.

rick gave us all so much with his music.

thank you rick

It seems the phrase is true: - Only the good die young ............. and you will be sorely missed. Shine On.

Such a sad occasion, but brings a lot of users with very small post counts together...

his voice, always meaningful, gentle... his smile, shy and cute... and his music, which he can't play anymore coz his fingers are turning to just bones...

Right now I suddenly saw a copy of The Division Bell in front of me. It starts with Rick's piece. It shows just what a composer Rick was. No matter who ruled in the band - Syd, Roger, or David (we'll omit the fact itself that in late 60s Rick was one of the main composers) - it was.. well, almost always was Rick behind the keys. That jazzy and classical guy, ready to experiment. The soul throughout his life - when Syd was around and then wanished... when Roger kicked him out of the band, yet Rick went on with the tour, & even though he turned to be more profitable, I guess Rick could have felt betrayed... drugs... age... cancer... Not exactly a fun scene. But he kept going on, doing his best. And with that he gives me inspiration. HE was inspiration. Still IS... WILL ALWAYS BE.

I woke up this morning in such a good mood. I have an interview today for a new job, i plan to see my girlfiend tommorow, who i only twice a month, and my band faded day, are preparing for our gig on 3rd october ( to which im going to play shine on you crazy diamond to dedicate to you & Syd).

After logging onto the internet this morning my happyness has disappeared, a true legend such as Rick Wright has sadly passed away. I cannot put into words how i feel right now.

Im so sorry, and my thoughts go out to his family, and of course all his friends. And to you guys as well on here, i know that this will be a very upsetting time for us all!

R.I.P Rick Wright -And shine on along with Syd Barrett

I was so shocked and upset by this dreadful news yesterday. I'm one of those Floyd fans for whom Rick Wright was the other defining presence along with Syd. His soloing on Interstellar Overdrive is a match in adventure and quality for Syd's, and he was the other great Floyd songwriter in 1967-68.

"Remember A Day", "Paintbox" and "It Would Be So Nice" aren't just amongst the Floyd's best material of that era, they're also some of the loveliest songs of the English psychedelic pop period.

Rest In Peace Rick.
