I love the first two albums and the formal songs on here really continue the rocking and beautiful quality they had from the moment Syd begain writing songs. I never heard Dave sound so good vocally. This is an amazing performance from him. The instrumentals are cool sonically but melody wise they aren't tight enough for me. Quicksilver I don't care if I ever hear again but I will of course because this LP is too good to ignore. Side one is killer and the More Blues and Ibizza Bar are nice in anotherwise lacking side 2.

I think More is good overall, but it seems to start off strong and end with much less than what it had begun with in terms of strength in songwriting. There are some real underrated gems hidden within the album. "Cymbaline" is one of their strongest pieces of output during this era and "Green is the Colour" has found its way onto my list of all-time favorite Pink Floyd songs. The instrumental stuff is a hit-or-miss and I usually listen to it when the mood is right. It's interesting to see how the band perceived world and Jazz music around this time, but sometimes it makes me wonder what they were thinking when they came out with a song like "A Spanish Piece".

A Spanish Piece. That track totally ruins the groove of the b-side of that album. I hate that song so much that I made myself a mono version with just the right channel of the track in order to get rid of Gilmour's stupid mexican sexual mumbling, because fortunately the music is mostly on one channel and the "singing" on the other. Now More is a lot more enjoyable without that! I also re-arranged the order of the songs to give the whole thing a better "conceptual" flow. For example Party Sequence, an otherwise throaway piece of music, sounds better after Green Is The Colour, serving as some sort of outro that uses the same flute of the previous track. And the same thing happens with Up The Khyber which can be used as an "Nightmare" extension to Cymbaline. The big problems are Nile Song and Ibiza Bar which don't fit with anything else on there. Without them Side 2 is an all space adventure with tracks like Main Theme, More Blues, Quicksilver and Dramatic Theme and Side 1 is the folky mellow stuff with Cirrus, Crying Song, Green and Cymbaline... a more enjoyable album that way. Anyway time to go to sleep.

Agreed, along with the Blues instrumental I like all the vocal songs on here. The two you mentioned really stick out though.

I've listened to it nearly every day this week so would have to give it 5. I prefer it to the accepted classics as it shows the band working together a lot more than on later efforts.

Probably my favourite Pink Floyd record. Cirrus Minor and Quicksilver are the sinister and gorgeous at the same time. Green and Cymballine are two of their best ever songy-songs. And the theme-tune is beyond great.

I just love this album. It kinda shows the way to something new, and a song like Green Is The Colour might be one of Floyds most underrated tracks. Just love it! This is a 4 from me.

'Cirrus Minor' (1969) shares birds with 'End of the Season' (1967) by The Kinks.
And with 'Greenfield Morning I Pushed An Empty Baby Carriage All Over the City' (1970), by Yoko Ono.

And maybe with 'Across the Universe (wildlife version)' (1968), by The Beatles.
Maybe at least the same "sound library" tape was used.

When I come to think of it, isn't it interesting they chose to release The Nile Song/Ibiza Bar as singles back in the 1969? I mean, both tracks on the single are hard rock songs and stand out quite a bit on the "More" album as very different sounding from the otherwise predominantly mellow folky and experimental psychadelic tunes which populate that album. What they had in mind? A breakthrough as hard kickin' heavy band?

I guess 'Seabirds' would have been a great A-side for a rock single.
Much more than 'The Nile Song' and 'Ibiza Bar'.
What were they thinking? And why is it still unreleased?

I didn't realize that there were a lot of people that held More in such high regard! Personally, it's at the bottom of the list for me. There are a few songs I do like, but I almost never find myself listening to any of them any more. I bought it on vinyl at a local thrift shop for a dollar just to round out my collection.

In the official album version a song Cymbaline is sang by David Gilmour, but in the movie a song is performed by Roger Waters. Did anybody know why? I'm wonderin' which version is better in you oppnion?

I think these are just alternate vocals by Gilmour.
Waters doesn't sing this sweet.

According to one of the comments, this version is a "half tune up".
Maybe the tape speed is faster?
