maybe if Plant could sing or write lyrics. :-k
Plant doesn't write most of the lyrics. If you're going to knock the band, at least have an idea of what you're talking about.

Anyway, in no particular order

Tool - Aenema
Tool - Push*t
Radiohead - Paranoid Android
Led Zeppelin - Over The Hills and Far Away
Metallica - Orion
Metallica - To Live Is To Die
David Bowie - Station To Station
Mogwai - Mogwai Fear Satan

That's as much as I can possibly narrow it down.

David Bowie: Ashes to Ashes

PFM: Impressioni di Settembre (or something like that, can't remember the title since it's Italian)
Deep Purple: Owed to 'G'
Gloria Estefan: Mi Tierra

Do you like the Live version or the studio version better? Personally I like aspects of both, but I hate Fred Durst's little comments in the middle of the live cut... so I think that I prefer the studio version.[/quote]

I haven't heard the live version...

You know what those little comments from Fred Durst are about, right?

If you don't, I shall explain now.

Fred has known Aaron Lewis for some time. Fred and Aaron used to spend evenings sitting around with an acoustic guitar and making up songs. "Outside" was a chorus that Aaron had, but kept making up different verses every time they sang it together.

One night in Biloxi during the Family Values Tour (from whence the live version comes,) there was some time that needed to be filled. Fred Durst grabbed Aaron Lewis and suggested they go sing "Outside" for the crowd, just to keep something going on onstage.

Aaron protested, pointing out that the song has never had any set verses, just a chorus. Fred encouraged him to wing it on the verses and Fred would join him on the chorus. If you listen, Fred never sings in the verses...only the chorus.

Thus...in the middle of the song...Durst was moved to let Biloxi know that this was, indeed, the "real MF-ing deal, y'all." Aaron was improvising these haunting, moving lyrics.

Of course, this was all recorded and released on the Family Values Tour live album and released as a single...so, when it came time to record a studio version (the old popular demand thing,) the lyrics Aaron improvised that night were the ones everyone knew...so he had to use them.

Just a little useless info.

1) Lady Godiva's Operation- Velvet Underground
2) That's Entertainment- The Jam
3) A Day In The Life- The Beatles
4) Tangled Up In Blue- Bob Dylan
5) Like A Hurricane- Neil Young

Something like that anyway, maybe consider putting Don't Stop by The Stone Roses, 1983 by Jimi Hendrix Experience or Pale Blue Eyes again by Velvet Underground

In the words of Jimmy Carson "I did not know that. That is wierd wild stuff!" :D But seriously, I had heard some of the story, but did not realize that the comments on the live version was part of the story. Which do you prefer mosespa?

5 favourite songs ever, phew thats tricky, id have to narrow it down to just one song per band to avoid some tough decisions with the Sparks back catalogue, here goes

5.Pet Shop Boys - Two Divided By Zero
4.Pink Floyd - Brain Damage
3.Depeche Mode - Stripped
2.New Order - Sub Culture
1.Sparks - Beat The Clock

Those are the songs that have meant the most to me my entire life, as for recent faves it'll probably be something like..

5.Polyphonic Spree - You Gotta Be Strong
4.Venus Hum - a new track that theyve been performing live but title is unknown
3.Interpol - Stella Was A Diver...
2.The Golden Virgins - Ive Seen The Light
1.Ladytron - Playgirl
