The site was down for ten minutes this morning around 8:10am GMT but, other than that, it has been up?

The web server has been under a brute force FTP attack for the past month or so. Somebody really wants to get in! They wont though as the passwords are long and strong so I wish they would just give up. It is probably some botnet or something. Piece of shit. There is nothing I can do about it either other than buy a larger server to take the extra load of being subjected to a brute force attack. I cant really afford that right now so will have to live with it for the time being.
One option would be to host the forum on the neptunepinkfloyd.info domain with different hosting to the managed server the site is on right now.

I've not found the site too bad speed wise of late but today it's gone to hell in a handbag.

Re: Site Going Slow
Today has been one of the worst days for a good while! Over 4 hours of downtime. I was sending the site newsletter out so that caused some issues.
I have been doing some research and think I may have found a solution to the problem. Time will tell. Something to do with "web gardens" and worker processes. If a script was running and taking all the resources on a "thread" in the memory, then the site would crash. I have now set up several web garden worker processes so there are multiple threads to deal with serving site pages.
I hope this works. If not....

Re: Site Going Slow
Well it seems to be working up to now. There has been very little downtime in the past few days. Yay!

Re: Site Going Slow
The site newsletter is being sent out so is slowing things down a bit! Should be sent in about 6 more hours.

Re: Site Going Slow
The site newsletter has finished sending now so the site should return to normal speed.
I did some digging through performance monitoring to try and route out the "bottleneck" that is slowing things down. I tinkered with another setting in the SQL database. I think it seems to have had an effect on the speed of the site loading.
Let me know if you can notice a difference.

It has been pretty bad recently, Keith. Maybe you should spend more time sorting it out than sending me spammy threats....or get laid!

Re: Site Going Slow
It has been pretty bad recently according to the uptime report from Pingdom...
http://www.pingdom.com/reports/7nkfciog ... e=NPF+HTTP
5% downtime for the month so far!
Is it working pretty quick for you now? It is for me.
