So, I decided that since I finished getting Waters', Gilmour's, Wright's and Mason's main solo albums (minus Zee's "Identity" and "Music from the Body"), I should finish it all by getting Barrett's material on CDs.
Okay, just looking at the albums Madcap Laughs and Barrett...I've read that they've been reissued in the past, to include bonus tracks of outtakes. Is this true, and did they ever make it stateside, or just from UK? Should I just get the original EMI/Capitol albums?
What about Opel?
I did manage to scoop up the Intro to Syd Barrett album a year or so ago.

Oh god! You did it all the wrong way!! FIRST you get the Barrett solo albums and then if you still have some spare money you follow with all the remaining subpar solo releases, like this: Floyd > Barrett > Waters > Gilmour > Wright > Mason.TheFloydian1 wrote:So, I decided that since I finished getting Waters', Gilmour's, Wright's and Mason's main solo albums... Regarding Barrett's solo albums, all three (Madcap, Barrett & Opel) where re-released with bonus tracks in the 90s; outtakes and alt-takes from the album sessions, a must have. You should try to get those, but I guess those are the easier ones to find anyway. I don't know of any differences between the UK/US releases, I have only listened to the UK EMI/Harvest versions. Where those released by Capitol in the USA?
PS/ You should get Music From The Body too! It's like side B and C of Roger Waters' side in Ummagumma.

Try to find the Syd Barrett Crazy Diamond Box Set
It has basically everything and lots of great outtakes

That is what I have Barrett's albums on. I bought it for £45 I think back in 2001 when at Uni when just discovering his work. Thought I would jump right in with that. Recommended.

HYGIY is great but overwhelming IMO especially for someone just starting to get the flavor of Syd's music

I just read that Capitol will re-release the 3 Barrett albums (with the bonus tracks), apparently no 'new' material

How many times have they re-released those albums?
