Anyone here attend the PinkFloyd concert at the Royal Albert Hall on 26th June 1969? I wish I was old enough! Apparently they set off a big cannon and a pink smoke bomb and got themselves a lifetime ban!!
Richard Wright played on the Hall's big organ!
There was wood sawing on stage
Fancy dress amongst crew members was normal for that evening
Anyone any pics of information?

There are/were pics on repfoto.com. Gilmour had a fetching beard for the occasion.

Dave played organ on live versions of Great Gig later on, and he probably played the mellotron bass parts on Narrow Way part 3, so who knows. He is sitting at a Hammond, and I didn't know Pink Floyd were using one live at that point, even though they had used it in a studio.
On a lighter note, "what a pity that it wasn't recorded". Hmmmmm! Yes it was, by some enterprising bootleggers.

So what song could it be Dave played on a Hammond organ in June 1969? Maybe something from "More" ("Cymbaline" comes to mind), or perhaps some early incarnation of "The Narrow Way"? Does anyone know anything more about that?my breakfast. wrote:Dave played organ on live versions of Great Gig later on, and he probably played the mellotron bass parts on Narrow Way part 3, so who knows.

I lost my copy of the bootleg, but I dont remember hearing hammond organ on any bootleg from that period. It could be a rehearsal photo, who knows?

Or it might not even be from 1969.

I think it is from 1969. Roger played a white Fender Precision bass for all of 1969 with a dark pickguard and a bridge pickup cover. It crops up in 1970 for the KQED performance, but it is not seen that often at all. Also the dirty old jacket Dave is wearing is more akin to the late 60s than the stuff he would wear from 1970 out.

Yes! I was there! I was working for Atlantic Records at the time
John Peel was in the row in front of us and he wept
when the Albert Hall organ was played for Saucerful of Secrets.

Wow, this is an old thread ... silent since 01 Oct 2008
For info, John Peel was at the same night as me at 'The Wall' staged at Earls Court in 1980

So he liked bands other than The Undertones then?
