On An Island clip on site and full song on Deep Tracks

Post by 0010 »

So there I am, listening to XM Radio, deep Tracks, and they play the title track from, On An Island!!! Holy crap!! Me and my buddy ryan actually crapped our pants... Don't know where they got the full track, but its awesome!

So I went over to David's site http://davidgilmour.com/ and they have a short clip on there to give you a taste. Go Check it out!

Thought i'd add a poll here rather than start another thread- David

So, how did it sound? Or were you too busy cleaning your pants to give it a good listen?
Did anyone record the song?

it was fantastic, of course, very kind of drifty spacey vocals. theres an awesome solo that takes up most of the song. i did not manage to figure out how to get a recording from it before it was over.

Just checked his site again, and it looks liek they changed the clip. This one sounds like a Floyd album intro a la 'Signs of Life' or 'Cluster One'. I think this must be one of the tracks where the orchestra is used.

I just heard On an Island, I must say I am really, really pleased. What a beautiful song that is. The Gilmour Crosby Nash harmonies are superb. The song even has just a hint of a See Saw-like melody and feel to it. My expectations for the album have just been significantly elevated.

a weird sidebar: immediately preceding On an Island o the radio was a new version of Comfortably Numb sung by Ani DeFranco?!? Strange.

whats up with the Blink 182 reference?

And did they light up a doobie in the middle of the song? :smt033

also, am i wrong but yesterday on David's site had a clip from this song, today it is a different track? Maybe we will soon get a preview of all the tracks!

Wow that's lovely :D

The delivery on:

We lay side by side,
Between the moon and the tide
Mapping the stars for a while

is among the best deliveries Dave's ever done

Thanks for adding the link to the download. Very cool indeed.
Not to sound ungrateful, but if someone finds a way to put up the song for download that doesn't have the 'payasos' gabbing away, that would be great.
