On An Island Lyrics - David Gilmour

Post by Keith Jordan »

On A Island

Heaven at night...
White sails in the moonlight
They walked into...
Through empty playground this ghost town
Children again on rusting swings getting higher
Sharing a dream
On a Island.... it felt right
We lay side by side,
Between the moon and the tide
Mapping the stars for a while
Let the night surround you
We're half way to the stars,
Heaven flow
Let it grow..... feel the warmth beside you

Guitar solo

Remember that night,
The warmth and the laughter
Candles burn...
Though the church was deserted
At dawn we went down through empty streets to the harbour
Dreamers may leave ...but they're here everafter...

Da da da da da....

Let the night surround you
We're half way to the stars,
Heaven flow
Let it grow..... feel the warmth beside you...

Solo

Well Keith, these lyrics are deciphered with our old ears. Would have been nice to tell everyone where you got them...whether they be right, or wrong :)

I downloaded the song from t'internet which was broadcast on the radio and the lyrics were in a text file....? I copied and pasted them here above. I believe David and Polly wrote the lyrics in the order they appear above? :)

I don't know...this part I think equals any of Rogers lyrics on DSOTM...the insight into the human condition is quite astounding

You may have downloaded them from another hub but those specific lyrics were from us. I watched Joe as he listened and transcribed to paper and then he put them in our hub and immediately afterwards posted them to our forum. Obviously someone in our hub, or forum, took them and shared them in whatever hub they were in. There are particular aspects of the words, and punctuation, that earmark it as ours. I am sure that now you understand why we would think the way we did when we first saw it in your forum.

The funny thing here is that those lyrics are not the correct lyrics.

These were what I heard on 1st listening and I posted them in my hub shares as a text file along with a promo copy of the song.

Shortly after that (a few minutes) I changed the lyrics in my share to the correct ones, and asked all of my hub members to do the same.

Most did so before sharing on other hubs...but a few didn't obviously.

Whatever....we were just trying to help folks understand why some of the lyrics Keith posted may not be quite correct, by stating the following:

"Well Keith, these lyrics are deciphered with our old ears."
