The Word article

Post by grelch »

Just read it on Gimour's site. It's an informative piece that comes off slightly acrimoniously. Some of that has to do with the author, who's tone is cynically tinged, but some of it comes from david's direct quotes. I found some of the things he said a bit disappointing. Even if he's right (I'm not saying he is) isn't it way past time to stop airing your dirty laundry through the media. I just don't care anymore about all of that nonsense. I love his music, Rog's music, Floyd's music etc. I feel lucky to have been afforded the luxury to enjoy it all in my lifetime. Once upon a time I got caught up in all of the 'swinging handbags' finger pointing and 'which one's Pink baloney, but now.....talk about the music, please; that's the extent of the relationship as artist and fans. Tell the rest of that stuff to Polly. Same goes for Nick and Rog too. Go kick your cat or something and keep the snide remarks to yourselves.

Gotta agree, he comes off as a total prat in this Word interview. I liked him in Mojo, but here he just sounds really bitter. Every few paragraphs he just bitches about Waters and then at the end has the audasity to claim Waters has a case of 'sour grapes.'

Really is a shame to see that even with the floyd over, and his new album coming out in a couple of days. he can't move on beyond this fallout, and after the live 8 reunion still feels the need to have digs at someone who hasn't even been a member of the same band as him for over 20 years.

Usually i'm a fan of Gilmour's press, but really the article just brings out his worst characteristics, and he just seems self satisfied (in particular when he talks about Rick) bitter (when he talks about Waters) and pompous.

Anyway, an interesting contrast to the rather good Mojo feature on him recently
