Site configuration

Post by Keith Jordan »

I just changed some settings on the site. Instead of 25 topics being showed per page, there are now 15. Instead of 15 posts per page, it is now 10. The aim of this is to save on bandwidth and to make the pages spped up when loading to make browsing more enjoyable for those with dial-up and those with broadband alike. :-)

Let me know what you think about this and if it makes any difference to you. If anybody has any suggestions about the forum, how it is run or anything else, let me know please. :-)

Is it possible to make the forum slightly narrower? On a 800x600 screen, you have to scroll across on each page in order to see about the last three characters on each line.

I'm still getting a horizontal scroll at 800x600.

Well, with my browser maximized I'm at 1280x1024  (That's the resolution I usually work at...I could go to 1920x1080, but severe eyestrain would ensue). However, I quickly checked it at 800x600 and yes, with the browser maximized at that res, I still get scrollage. I also use 800x600 on my ibook, but I can't check that now.

I think it is the links menu at the top of the page which is doing it. people's usernames vary in size so this can push the page out too wide past the viewable area in people's browsers. I guess I will have to work on that.

Maybe you need a NO WRAP tag in there somewhere? I can see why it would do it with my name because it is one of the longer ones, but scmods's isn't.

Yes! Thank you very much.

I think it was the link at the tpo that were pushing it out. Looks good now.
