Post by Keith Jordan »

What is all this about? My head can't think long enough to decipher what it means!! Roger and Shakira are developing an island?

Bahamas Real Estate - Private Island for Sale
Bonds Cay is situated in the north-central Bahamas in an area known as the Berry Islands ( Latitude 25 degrees 45 minutes North and 77 degrees 50 minutes West). The east coast of Florida is approximately 125 miles due west and the main shipping lane of the Northwest Providence Channel lies immediately off shore to the east.

The island comprises a total of 600 (+/-) acres and is approximately 3 miles long and 1/2 mile wide at its widest point. It is completely undeveloped and features three salt pond lakes, one of which could be opened up to the sea to form a lovely-protected marina harbour.

The island features 5 major beaches. At the southern end there are two beautiful beaches forming a small bay with water depth of 15 -18 feet shallowing to 12 feet on the western end.

Approximately midway along the eastern side of the island, there are two stretches of beach and rock mixed with good elevations making this location ideal for residential building sites.

The highest elevation on the island (66 feet) is located at the extreme northern end where there is a very private cove beach.

Bonds Cay has the potential to support a large-scale development including an airstrip of 4,500 - 5,000 feet. as well as other support facilities.

The nearest international airports are on New Providence (Nassau), 50 miles to the south east and Freeport, Grand Bahama, approximately 90 miles to the north. There are regional airports with Bahamas Customs and Immigration at both Great Harbour Cay, 15 miles to the north and Chubb Cay, 10 miles to the southwest. There is a private airstrip on the adjacent island of Little Whale Cay that can accommodate small aircraft.

Hospital facilities are located in Nassau and there is a small medical clinic at Great Harbour Cay. The US Coast Guard frequently performs medical evacuations from cruise ships in this area.

Transportation to Bonds Cay is by boat, float plane or helicopter. Visiting yachtsman frequently anchor in the many fine anchorages located along the western shore of the island.

Bonds Cay location: Berry Islands price: US $16 000 000

Wish You Were Here
A group of high-profile investors, including pop star Shakira, 29, and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, 63, are in contract to buy--and eventually develop--the 700-acre Bahamian island of Bonds Cay.

In addition to a boutique hotel, luxury condominiums and homes with private beaches, the island will house an artists' retreat. There will be a rotating cast of artists-in-residence, galleries populated with up-and-comers' works and a program that offers semester-long sabbaticals.

"It's not about having 200 speedboats and an 18-hole golf course," says Arturo Rubinstein, a Miami-based investor whose partners in the project also include Antonio De La Rua, son of Argentina's former president Fernando De La Rua, and New York City financial services firm Guggenheim Capital. "I would say it is an explosion of the senses. It's a concept more related to art and culture."

The island, which was listed at $16 million, is situated in the north-central Bahamas, in an area known as the Berry Islands. It is about 125 miles off the east coast of Florida and boasts three salt pond lakes and five major beaches, including a private cove beach on the island's northern end.

"It's a beautiful island," says John Christie, vice president of Caribbean real estate brokerage H.G. Christie. "It's got some height to it, which means as you build up, you get better views. There is the ocean to the east of it so you've got reefs and views of turquoise water. On the other side of the island is limey, light turquoise water because it is shallow. It's a great bone fishing area."

Also involved in the project are Latin American recording artist Miguel Bose, 50, and 37-year-old Spanish pop star Alejandro Sanz, also known for his work on the 2005 Shakira duet, "La Tortura."

What makes this development different than other celebrity-affiliated projects (see " Star-Powered Properties "), Rubinstein says, is that these stars will own homes on the island and reside there part of the year. He plans to begin construction in mid-2007 with a first phase of offerings to hit the market three years later.

"Remember that night...
White sails in the moonlight
They walked it too...
Through empty playground, this ghost's town
Children again on rusting swings getting higher
Sharing a dream
On an Island.... it felt right
We lay side by side,
Between the moon and the tide
Mapping the stars for a while
Let the night surround you
We're half way to the stars,
Ebb and flow
Let it grow..... feel the warmth beside you

Remember that night,
The warmth and the laughter
Candles burn...
Though the church was deserted
At dawn we went down through empty streets to the harbour
Dreamers may leave ...but we're here everafter...
Da da da da da....
Let the night surround you
We're half way to the stars,
Ebb and flow
Let it grow..... feel the warmth beside you..."

I find this hard to believe. Although Roger Waters comes out and admits that he has chosen the life of a capitalist (thank God for us), I don't quite see him as the type to buy strips of land and then develop the hell out of them. After seeing the Wall and listening to his solo material, I just cannot picture ROGER WATERS first throwing his lot in with...Shakira, and then indulging himself in the degrading behavior of the modern developer. This is very inplausible if one thinks about it. I mean, he's spent the last 40 years of his life attacking this sort of practice; he hasn't slipped this much in his old age.

Unless...

Unless...somehow Keith has been possessed, and is now doing Satan's evil work - spreading the insidious maleficience of global spamism under the auspices of running an (on the surface) upstanding and informative online community...ultimately to zombify us all and turns us into his drooling minions of cyber-shite, before unleashing us upon an unsuspecting world, gibbering insanely and singing Shakira tunes while sinking our e-fangs into the jugular of the information superhighway itself...

:-$ :-$

OR...perhaps not. *ahem*

Wow, that is a really bizarre partnership, thanks for posting that.
Oh my GOD, look over there!

*buggers off posthaste*

I wonder which will be the first (adopts woman sounding like a man on 70 Marlboros a day voice) to be left outside alone?

There are a lot of mistakes in this... like it's supposed to be "Let it go" not "Let it grow" and it's "They walked here too" not "they walked it too"
