In a social media music group, I saw a post from a guy asking if anyone would be interested in recording vocal tracks for a song he'd written but didn't like his voice for.
I offered to give it a shot providing he also allowed me to throw some guitar down on it. He was amenable, so I did.
I also ended up making a video for it, using a bunch of stock footage and some quick grabs from my handicam. Here's a link for my friends and detractors to check out.

You've done a cracking job there, like the video looks fantastic.

Thanks, Boss. I can't take all the credit, as it's mostly stock footage, but I've been developing some film making skills this past decade or so!Keith Jordan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 3:58 pm You've done a cracking job there, like the video looks fantastic.
He's sent me three more songs to do! Could be an album in the works!

Your voice reminds me of both Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry and Talk Talk's Mark Hollis - and that's not a bad range to be in!

What a weird thing to say, though it's pretty much what I thought of every Roger Waters solo release. Who makes worldwide hits? Mid-'80s Michael Jackson?

Will do!
Re: So, I did a thing...
hey mos, long time no see!
I really like the atmosphere of this song. Great vocals too.
I did not see the video, so I can't comment on it, but I've listened to it. I'm really into this kind of "atmosphere".
Probably I should see the video soon, as well!
All fits very well, the guitar appearing and disappearing then coming back, the voice, that chilling piano. I love the "violin-like" keys at the second half, and how the vocals get faster and more intense for some whiles during the second half (The "all children children" lines, soon getting softer), and then they get atmospheric again.
A lot of very interesting instrumental sections, based on keyboards creating the atmosphere, with that beautiful piano all over the song.
I honestly loved it.
I could have made a shorter post, but caffeine would not let it, plus I like to express what a song makes me feel.
Cheers!

Re: So, I did a thing...
Thanks for the kind words, Eclipse! If you liked this one, I suspect you'll like the others! Dave, the guy who writes the songs and does the keyboards, writes things that really resonate with my inner Theater Kid. One of my favorite things about Pink Floyd is the dramatic nature of a lot of what they've done and I feel like Dave captures a sense of drama with his stuff.
It really feeds my Floydian sensibilities, lol
More to come soon!

Indeed! It has also resonated with me, due this character you mentioned.mosespa wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 4:43 pm Thanks for the kind words, Eclipse! The song has that Floydian dramatic and atmospheric framework, but you also have an identity of your own, and it all sounds great.
Great! Yes, please. I would really appreciate listening to more of these.

I'm a little late to the party here, but I just heard this and it sounds great! I really like the video too. So it's mostly a bunch of stock footage...it's how you put it all together that matters and you did a great job of that! Looking forward to hearing more!

Thanks, MG! I'm glad you (and everyone else who is) are digging it!
I've been procrastinating a bit these last couple of months, but I've also been doing some upgrading to my studio.
I should be spamming the forum with more tracks from this project soon!
