Neutral Milk Hotel

Anyone here heard of them? Amazing psychedelic fuzz-folkrock, their 2nd album In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is one of the best albums of the 90's. The main man of the band was/is a guy called Jeff Magnum who sort of reminds of Syd Barrett... Try and check out the album I mentioned, you probably won't regret it (especially if you're a Barrett fan)

All Music Guide says:

Roots and Influences: Sonic Youth, Pink Floyd, The Zombies,The Beach Boys, The Beatles

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is a very good album. Their debut, On Avery Island, is crap.

I wouldn't call the debut album crap, but it is much worse than the second....

Oh, and if you want to check out a newish band that sounds sort of like NMH, listen to The Decemberists, I'd say their debut 'Castaways & Cutouts' is almost as good as In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, and their 2nd album isn't bad either.
