Alright everybody. Taking into consideration the votes from my last thread named Should We! I am going to post the list of the songs that will be incluced. For those not in the know, refer to the following link:
http://www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/for/v ... php?t=2741
They include songs on the officially released albums and other few singles, if that's the right word.
Take a look at this long long list and let me know if there is any song that you might think is missing. They are in alphabetical order for your convenience. RoIOs do NOT count If you find any of those in this list, let me know. I tend to be careless
Additions, objections and suggestions are invited.
This done, we'll then progress to the next stage.
And on a second note, you might want to display some enthusiasm
Here's the list. I think they are 172 in total

Re: Finally!
On first note, these songs are all solo work from Syd, I think:
Baby Lemonade
Clowns and Jugglers
Gigolo Aunt
Golden Hair
Lanky (Part One)
Late Night
No Good Trying
Octopus
Opel
Swan Lee (Silas Lang)
Waving My Arms In The Air/Never Lied To You (continuous)
Wined And Dined
Wolfpack
And I think 'Let's Roll Another One' is the same as 'candy and currant bun' with a few different lyrics...
On second note: I show my enthousiasm impressive list!

No, I don't think so...Ridan wrote:Anything isn't missing is it?
I just realized you included some tracks form the Zabriskie Point soundtrack:
Crumbling land
Country song
Heart beat, pig meat
Come number 51, your time is up
The last of those (come in number 51) is an alternate version of Careful with that axe, Eugene... although radically different, especially the second half...
I will leave the decision up to you, since this is your project
About the other songs from Zabriski Point I'm not sure... but I think they are 'unique' tracks.
How about the next step? Do you plan on creating some database in which everyone can enter his own top XX? Or should we just post them here, or mail them to you? Entering al those numbers by yourself will be a pain, I think...

I would not do that. Idf you start with putting a few life-songs on the list, you have to put all the live songs on the list, and then there are teice as much songs to choose from.seamusz wrote:Can we put the songs Astronomy Domine, Careful With That Axe Eugene, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, and Saucerful Of Secrets from the Ummagumma Live cd? Maybe its just redundant.

It is a toughy regaurding the live versions, the Celestial Voices part of Saucerful is very different live and is one of my fave Floyd moments so if I were to include Saucerful in my picks it would be because of the live version but as had been said there are so many alternatives live the list would be never ending but maybe the Ummagumma tracks should be included as they are officially released but of course that then opens up DSoT, PULSE and ITAOT which would nearly double the size of the list so its hard to say, I guess it would depend on how the poll is compiled, if its just a simple case of voting in the same way we do on the polls here but restricted to say 10 votes per person then it would be quite simple but if poor old Ridan has to count up all these then its probably easier to leave them off.

I think that the four live tracks on Ummagumma are different than the later live sets. But, after thinking about it, it wouldnt be all that fun if there were two of the same song on the final list. Its probably fine without differentiating on the list, but when the song is disscussed, there could be conversation about which version is best... just a thought.

I think that's a nice idea... maybe we could just take the songtitle and stick to the concept of the song, not so much a particular version. In discussing them we can point out which versions are good/bad etc.seamusz wrote:I think that the four live tracks on Ummagumma are different than the later live sets. When voting just think of the nicest version of the song you know. When you like the live version of SOS un Ummagumma very much you can just vote for SOS...
By the time we are going to publish the results of this project in the New York Times we can always add some comments about particular good live versions etc.

Perhaps live official releases should not be in this - they are to be taken as whole concerts - even Ummagumma. These could be for a later live list. I like the idea of singles (I would love rare unreleased stuff too, but maybe another list) in the context of official releases. What about Love Scene etc. from Zambriski Point?

You think the song you mentioned should be included? And the other Zabriskie Point songs? If yes then either we include all of them or remove all of them. What do you think?ganaffe wrote:The last of those (come in number 51) is an alternate version of Careful with that axe, Eugene... although radically different, especially the second half...

What I have in mind for the moment in people will send me their all time top 10 or 15 at via e-mail. Then I'll sort them out. How? Check your PM Ganaffeganaffe wrote:How about the next step? Yes people you'll have to some thinking.
Yeah I agree. I plan to do one with live songs after this one. I'm bored aren't I?Syd. wrote:I would not do that. That's right. The list would be long and that enough should make my hair go white I think I'm cool with them being black for the momentsimpledumbpilot wrote:It is a toughy regaurding the live versions, the Celestial Voices part of Saucerful is very different live and is one of my fave Floyd moments so if I were to include Saucerful in my picks it would be because of the live version but as had been said there are so many alternatives live the list would be never ending but maybe the Ummagumma tracks should be included as they are officially released but of course that then opens up DSoT, PULSE and ITAOT
Thanks for the concern SDP Soon enough we'll out the prefered way of going about it. After opinions from you allsimpledumbpilot wrote:then it would be quite simple but if poor old Ridan has to count up all these then its probably easier to leave them off.
I was thinking of TIME magazine Wouldn't it be cool to have our own list It would be a slap on Rolling Stones and other magazines' face for their stupid lame pollsganaffe wrote:By the time we are going to publish the results of this project in the New York Times we can always add some comments about particular good live versions etc.
Somebody tell me more about Moonhead.Eugene wrote:In my opinion you could insert in your list "MOONHEAD"
It wasn't never released but it's a PF song and it isn't from a RoIO.
But... the last word is your.
