What happened in Montreux Casino show.

Post by Uma Guma »

Downloaded this show and I love it. The quality is good and the setlist is great too. Its nice to hear some live Atom Heart Mother, and am I right in thinking they only peformed AHM a few times...???

Anyway my question if anyone knows.. during the last part of Cymbaline, it clearly sounds like someone had kicked or fallen over an amp or perhaps Roger tripped over a lead, and you can here Dave trying not to laugh but failing miserably... can anyone shed some light on this incident? Made me laugh loads!

A few concerts of this era had the boys laughing uncontrollably (especially Dave) while trying to perform. I think it's nice as it shows they weren't always deadly serious or antagonistic, but actually had fun playing together as a band. The good old days. *sigh*

Heh, atom heart mother was recorded around 65-67 times live (: - David Gilmour sings almost every version of ASOS except 1969-06-26 (a choir that was present at the concert sang it) and I believe the LP release.

I have enver heard AHM played live!!! And, the boys had a huge snese of humour...its obvious in Pompeii and others...If you're not having fun playing music, why do it? Its so much fun and they all have an amazing sense of humour!!

I was expecting AHM to be pants without all the brass, orchestra, choir etc. but amazingly it works just as well without. Although i'm biased because I really love Atom Heart Mother.

In the final performances of Atom Heart Mother (1972, mainly in the may if 1972), you can really hear their displeasure of playing it. And later, pretty much the entire band agreed that the song probably wasn't their best piece of music :p

Shame that Roger felt that way... I think its a great piece of music, and interesting when heard live.

Long live Atom Heart Mother :D
